CONGRATULATING the members of the High School for
Innovation in Advertising and Media School Club "Men
in Color" upon the occasion of winning the
Grand-Prize in the 2020 Northeast Public Radio
Podcast Challenge with their production of "Flossy
Podcast"

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commend and
pay tribute to those young people who, by achieving outstanding success
in educational competition, have inspired and brought pride to our
majestic Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate the members of the High School for Innovation in
Advertising and Media School Club "Men in Color" upon the occasion of
winning the Grand-Prize in the 2020 Northeast Public Radio Podcast
Challenge with their production of "Flossy Podcast"; and

WHEREAS, The Northeast Public Radio Podcast Challenge was offered to
teachers with students 5th - 12th Grade; the students were asked to put
together a podcast between three to 12 minutes long with their class or
extracurricular group; and

WHEREAS, The members of the High School for Innovation in
Advertising and Media School Club "Men in Color" in the Canarsie
neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, include: Jaheim Birch-Gentles,
Joshua Bovell, Brianna Johnson, Jamar Thompson, Kamari Murdock, Isaiah
Dupuy; and the theme music was produced by Ieszan McKinney; and

WHEREAS, Under the expert direction of Club Advisor Mischael
Cetoute, these seven extraordinary students captured the grand-prize in
the Challenge with their winning podcast submission "Flossy Podcast"
which was about Climate Change and Environmental Racism; and

WHEREAS, The members of the club met twice a week; the meetings
served as a safe space for students to talk through issues and ideas,
and gave rise to the Flossy Podcast, where the students tackled big
social issues mixed in with their living experiences; and

WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose,
these young people now stand honorably, with just pride in their
accomplishments and in eager anticipation of future challenges,
understanding and appreciating the caring counsel and support provided
by their teachers, advisors and parents; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the members of the High School for Innovation in
Advertising and Media School Club "Men in Color" upon the occasion of
winning the Grand-Prize in the 2020 Northeast Public Radio Podcast
Challenge, and to extend to them best wishes for a future of purposeful
success and well-being; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed,
be transmitted to Jaheim Birch-Gentles, Joshua Bovell, Brianna Johnson,
Jamar Thompson, Kamari Murdock, Isaiah Dupuy, Ieszan McKinney; and Club
Advisor Mischael Cetoute.
