HONORING Angela S. Beddoe upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Fuel Her Fire Award
by Girls Incorporated of the Greater Capital Region
on September 26, 2018

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to publicly
recognize those extraordinary individuals who have made contributions to
the success and progress of society in the course of their life's work;
and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Angela S. Beddoe upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of the Fuel Her Fire Award by Girls Incorporated of the
Greater Capital Region to be observed at its 4th Annual Awards
Celebration on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at Wolfert's Roost Country
Club in Albany, New York; and

WHEREAS, The Fuel Her Fire Award recognizes trailblazers who are
inspirational leaders in their field or community, and serve as role
models for others; Angela S. Beddoe is truly deserving of this
auspicious award; and

WHEREAS, Through free after-school and mentoring programs, Girls
Inc. of the Greater Capital Region strives to inspire girls grades
Kindergarten through 12 to be strong, smart, and bold by focusing on the
development of the whole girl by teaching her to value herself, take
risks, and discover and develop her inherent strengths; and

WHEREAS, The combination of long-lasting mentoring relationships, a
pro-girl environment, and research-based programming equips girls to
navigate gender, economic, and social barriers, and grow up healthy,
educated, and independent; and

WHEREAS, A graduate of Skidmore College, Angela S. Beddoe serves as
both President and CEO of Beddoe Publishing and is Publisher and
Editor-in-Chief of Herlife Magazine-New York, the premier lifestyle
magazine in the Capital Region with a mission of keeping women
connected; the magazine has been published locally for the past seven
years and is a vehicle which empowers women of all ages; and

WHEREAS, In addition, Angela S. Beddoe is a co-Founder and Principal
at G-Force Consulting, a business development and strategic engagement
company; and

WHEREAS, Prior to these roles, Angela S. Beddoe was a corporate
executive serving as Vice President-Public Affairs and President of her
company's foundation, and Chairman of the Board of Rebuilding Together,
a national low-income housing organization, based in Washington, DC with
over 200,000 volunteers and almost 200 affiliates nation-wide; and

WHEREAS, Angela S. Beddoe has also been a guest lecturer for the
business department at Skidmore College and the School of Public

Relations at New York University on the topics of entrepreneurship and
strategic communication respectively; and

WHEREAS, Devoted to her profession and community, Angela S. Beddoe
is a member of the Executive Committee of the Forum of Executive Women
and the Boards of Directors of Proctor's in Schenectady, New York and
Senior Service America In Silver Spring, Maryland; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Angela Beddoe has displayed
throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Angela Beddoe upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Fuel Her Fire Award by Girls Incorporated of the Greater Capital
Region; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Angela Beddoe.
