MOURNING the death of Raymond F. Pfeiffer Sr.,
meritorious veteran, distinguished citizen and
devoted member of his community
WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in this Nation, and the
great State of New York, is reflective of the purposeful lives and good
works of those patriotic and civic-minded community members who dedicate
their lives and careers to the service of others; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is moved to publicly mourn the death
of those prominent citizens whose lifework and purposeful endeavors have
served to enrich and enhance the quality and character of life for
others in their community and the great State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Raymond F. Pfeiffer Sr. of Buffalo, New York, died on
Saturday, February 9, 2019, at the age of 95; and
WHEREAS, Born on July 8, 1923, Raymond F. Pfeiffer Sr. proudly
served his country as a Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy;
for his admirable service, his name was added to the Buffalo Naval and
Military Park's prestigious Wall of Honor on Saturday, November 10,
2018; and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by his wife, Rosalie A., and two sisters,
Lucille and Norma, Raymond F. Pfeiffer Sr. is survived by his three
sons, Richard, Raymond Jr. (Nadine) and Paul (Amy); one daughter, Mary
Beth; one grandson, Andrew; four great-grandchildren, Mason, Nicholas,
Will and Wyatt; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and
great-nephews; as well as many friends who will long cherish his memory;
and
WHEREAS, The dedication and sacrifices of our military personnel
ensure our continued role as a Nation which embodies the ideals of
democracy, and is a defender of liberty for peoples throughout the
world; and
WHEREAS, Residents of this great State must never forget the courage
with which these men and women served their country, and must recognize
that no greater debt is owed than that owed to those who gave their
lives for their beloved Nation and to those who continue to be missing
in action; and
WHEREAS, Having exhibited their patriotism both at home and abroad,
these men and women demonstrated their love for their country and merit
forevermore, the highest respect of their State and Nation; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Raymond F. Pfeiffer Sr., meritorious veteran,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of his community; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Raymond F. Pfeiffer Sr.
