CONGRATULATING Stevo Poulin upon the occasion of
capturing the 106-pound Division I wrestling title
at the New York State Public High School Athletic
Association Wrestling Championships on February 23,
2019

WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and

WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Stevo
Poulin upon the occasion of capturing the 106-pound Division I wrestling
title at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association
Wrestling Championships on Saturday, February 23, 2019, at the Times
Union Center in Albany, New York; and

WHEREAS, Since a young age, Stevo Poulin has diligently worked for
this pinnacle moment; as a sophomore at Shenendehowa High School in
Clifton Park, New York, he was proudly crowned Division I's 106-pound
wrestling State Champion; and

WHEREAS, In front of a capacity crowd and a fan base of family,
friends and teammates, Stevo Poulin earned a 4-3 decision win over
Minisink Valley freshman Zach Ryder to claim the title; and

WHEREAS, Stevo Poulin has also earned accolades at the national
level, garnering a number one ranking by Wrestling USA Magazine and
InterMat Wrestling; and

WHEREAS, Stevo Poulin capped his second varsity season with an
impressive overall record of 44-0, and his second consecutive state
championship; and

WHEREAS, In a sport such as wrestling, which demands athletic
prowess, speed and agility, Head Coach Rob Weeks worked hard to hone the
skills of this champion, teaching this outstanding athlete lessons which
will prove invaluable both on and off the mat; and

WHEREAS, Stevo Poulin has clearly utilized dedication, determination
and teamwork in providing a lasting contribution to the spirit of
excellence which is a tradition of his school; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Stevo Poulin upon the occasion of capturing the 106-pound
Division I wrestling title at the New York State Public High School
Athletic Association Wrestling Championships; and be it further


RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Stevo Poulin, Shenendehowa Head Coach Rob Weeks and
Athletic Director Chris Culnan.
