HONORING Rick Coe upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2018 Lifetime
Achievement Award by the Seneca County Chamber of
Commerce on January 18, 2019
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those distinguished citizens who would devote their life's work
and purpose to community service, contributing to the welfare of the
citizens of their communities and this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Rick Coe upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2018
Lifetime Achievement Award by the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce, to
be celebrated at its Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony on Friday,
January 18, 2019, at Club 86 in Geneva, New York; and
WHEREAS, A native of Camden, New York, Rick Coe moved to Waterloo in
1979; at the young age of 23, he purchased the Genung Funeral Home and
has been a leader in the local community ever since; he established the
Seneca County Bereavement Support Group; works with the Stepping Stones
program for adults, children and teens with bereavement issues; helped
found Pathway Home of the Finger Lakes; and has been a vital member of
its Board of Directors since its inception and has served as President
for the past five years; and
WHEREAS, A dedicated supporter of educational initiatives, Rick Coe
is a life member of Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society for College
Students through which he has financially supported students' higher
education; he was also a participant of Waterloo Central School Dollars
for Scholars and served as co-chair of the Waterloo Library and
Historical Society Fundraising Committee; and
WHEREAS, In addition, this remarkable gentleman was a member of
United Way of Seneca County Board of Directors and the American Heart
Association, and served on its Seneca County Division Board, the Finger
Lakes Region Board, and was the Finger Lakes Region Delegate to the
State Affiliate AHA Board; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Rick Coe has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Rick Coe upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
2018 Lifetime Achievement Award by the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce
on January 18, 2019; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Rick Coe.
