HONORING Alice M. Barnes upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Women's History
Award by the 79th Precinct Community Council, Inc.
and the Brooklyn Club, NANBPWC, Inc.
WHEREAS, The State of New York is home to countless women who have
contributed to the advancement of our culture through both their
traditional and non-traditional roles in society; and
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made
significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Alice M. Barnes upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Women's History Award by the 79th Precinct Community Council, Inc. and
the Brooklyn Club, NANBPWC, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion will be celebrated at a Women's
History Month event on Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at Brooklyn Job Corp
in Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, Alice M. Barnes earned her Bachelor of Business
Administration degree in accounting from Bernard Baruch College, and her
Master's of Business Administration degree in corporate finance and
economics from New York University (NYU); she also holds numerous
licenses and designations which include Series 7, 65, 63, 24; Life and
Health, P & C, CLTC, CLU, and CHFC; and
WHEREAS, For over 25 years, Alice M. Barnes has been involved in the
financial services industry; throughout her career, she has always
strived to provide excellent service to high net worth individuals and
multi-billion dollar businesses across multiple product lines including
estate planning, brokerage, investments, fiduciary, foreign exchange and
private placements; and
WHEREAS, Alice M. Barnes is currently a Financial Advisor with
Prudential/Pruco Securities with a focus on empowering women,
communities, small businesses and faith based organizations; she is a
qualifying member of the prestigious 2013 Million Dollar Roundtable and
Masters Council at Prudential Annuities; prior to this esteemed
position, she was employed by JPMorgan Private Bank; and
WHEREAS, Passionate about building relationships, mentoring and
educating others about finances, Alice M. Barnes has written articles
for both Black Enterprises and Essence magazines, and has served as a
panelist on various forums including the dfree Financial Freedom
Movement, FraserNet Power Conference, American College Financial
Conference, and the African American Financial Experience; and
WHEREAS, Alice M. Barnes has also provided workshops, lectures and
creating empowerment initiatives which teach basic financial principles
to women's groups, medical professionals, churches, unions, and
inner-city organizations, as well as colleges and schools; and
WHEREAS, Moreover, Alice M. Barnes has hosted various informational
educational workshops and seminars, volunteered for various not-for
profit organizations providing financial education and empowerment, and
is affiliated with several professional and community organizations
including Women in Financial Services, The Brooklyn Club of the National
Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Club, Black Women
of Influence, Black Leadership Forum at Pruco, 79th Precinct Community
Council, and the Stagg Street Center for Children; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable woman is a Trustee for Mt. Lebanon Baptist
Church, serves on the Decatur Clearpool Beacon School Foundation Board
of Directors, and is a former member of Junior Achievement; and
WHEREAS, For her steadfast and unremitting commitment to her
community and profession, Alice M. Barnes has been the recipient of
numerous awards and accolades; and
WHEREAS, When she is not working or helping someone, Alice M. Barnes
loves spending time with her cherished family, especially her
grandchildren; she also enjoys reading, traveling and staying fit; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Alice M. Barnes upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Women's History Award by the 79th Precinct Community Council,
Inc. and the Brooklyn Club, NANBPWC, Inc.; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Alice M. Barnes.
