HONORING Roland Williams upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by Kappa Alpha
Psi Fraternity, Inc., Brooklyn-Long Island Alumni
Chapter at its Leadership Conference on February 23,
2019

WHEREAS, The unity of our State and Nation is built upon the
compassion of individuals such as Roland Williams who uphold the values
of community life and who, through their great actions, epitomize the
best of humanity; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Roland
Williams upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by
Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Brooklyn-Long Island Alumni Chapter at
its Leadership Conference on Saturday, February 23, 2019, at Brooklyn
College; and

WHEREAS, Roland Williams currently serves as the President of Quick
Swipe Services, LLC, an electronic payment company; and

WHEREAS, Roland Williams earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in
Business Administration and Marketing with a minor in Economics from
Fordham University, during which time he became a member of Kappa Alpha
Psi Fraternity Inc., Iota Rho Chapter in the spring of 1988; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to community
outreach, social action and education, Roland Williams has spent his
illustrious career working with scores of not-for-profit organizations
and state agencies throughout the United States by partnering with Basic
Access, a communications company which provides products and services
from high-speed internet and broadband solutions; and

WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of Roland Williams, this endeavor
has been instrumental in creating programs to help close the digital
divide in low-income and rural areas of the country, generating
affordable connectivity for disadvantaged families; and

WHEREAS, Roland Williams serves as the Keeper of Exchequer for the
Brooklyn-Long Island Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.;
in conjunction with Basic Access, he has donated over 200 tablets to the
Kappa League Program in an effort to once again close the digital divide
in the community; and

WHEREAS, A true asset to society, Roland Williams recently acquired
the designation as a Professional Register Parliamentarian from the
National Association of Parliamentarians, to continue to help educate
local youth and the future leaders of the community; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Roland Williams has displayed
throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Roland Williams, that future generations may know and appreciate his
admirable character, his many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which he is held by his peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Roland Williams upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Brooklyn-Long Island
Alumni Chapter at its Leadership Conference on February 23, 2019; and be
it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Roland Williams.
