CONGRATULATING Louise M. McCann upon the occasion
of being inducted into the 26th Annual May W.
Newburger Women's Roll of Honor by the Town of North
Hempstead, in conjunction with the observance of
Women's History Month

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those women of achievement within this great Empire State
who have made strong contributions to their communities and who inspire
others through their model citizenship; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Louise M. McCann upon the occasion of being inducted into
the 26th Annual May W. Newburger Women's Roll of Honor by the Town of
North Hempstead, in conjunction with the observance of Women's History
Month, to be celebrated with a breakfast on Wednesday, March 27, 2019,
at Harbor Links Golf Course, Port Washington, New York; and

WHEREAS, Since 1994, North Hempstead has held the Women's Roll of
Honor breakfast to honor women who have made a contribution to their
community, or have accomplished a significant achievement through public
or private efforts; Louise M. McCann is one such woman; and

WHEREAS, Louise Mary McCann earned her Associate of Arts degree in
English from Elizabeth Seton College and her Bachelor of Science degree
in Criminology/Police Science from the New York Institute of Technology;
in 1998, she furthered her education by obtaining her Paralegal
Certificate from Adelphi University; and

WHEREAS, Since 1986, Louise M. McCann has worked for Congdon,
Flaherty, O'Callaghan, Reid & Donlon as a Paralegal; and

WHEREAS, From June of 1979 through October of 2004, Louise M. McCann
served her country as a Senior Paralegal with the United States Army
Reserve, retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant/E-8; for her
exceptional service, she was awarded two Meritorious Service Medals,
three Army Commendation Medals, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense
Service Medal, Meritorious Volunteer Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve
Medal with Silver Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Reserve Component Achievement
Medal with Hour Glass Device, and the Army Service Ribbon; and

WHEREAS, Dedicated to her profession, fellow veterans and community,
Louise M. McCann is actively involved with the Nassau American Legion,
the Great Neck Memorial Day Parade and Veterans' Day Committees, the
Veterans' Advisory Committee, and Boots & Saddles, and served as a
Trustee for the Village of Roslyn from 1996-1999; and

WHEREAS, Louise M. McCann was also a member of the NYPD Auxiliary
Police Force from 1975-1992, holding the title of Captain, Commanding
Officer of the Training Division; for her steadfast and unremitting
commitment, she was the recipient of the City Council Citation of Honor,

Queens Borough President's Citation of Honor, Seven 500 Hour Service
Bars, Unit Citation, Award of Merit and Ten-Year Service Award; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the State of New York; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Louise M. McCann upon the occasion of being inducted into
the 26th Annual May W. Newburger Women's Roll of Honor by the Town of
North Hempstead, in conjunction with the observance of Women's History
Month; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Louise M. McCann.
