HONORING Father Francis O'Connor upon the occasion
of his designation as recipient of the Teresian
Humanitarian Award on July 26, 2018

WHEREAS, The unity of our State and Nation is built upon the
compassion of individuals such as Father Francis O'Connor who uphold the
values of community life and who, through their great actions, epitomize
the best of humanity; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Father
Francis O'Connor upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Teresian Humanitarian Award by the Teresian House Foundation, to be
celebrated at its 28th Annual Gala on Thursday, July 26, 2018, at
Saratoga National Golf Course, Saratoga Springs, New York; and

WHEREAS, The Teresian Humanitarian Award is presented annually to a
person who exemplifies Christian values and ideals and is faithful to
the message of the gospel in all aspects of their personal and
professional lives; Father Francis O'Connor is one such individual; and

WHEREAS, Father Francis O'Connor founded Family Promise of the
Capital Region, an organization which provides homeless children and
their families with food, shelter, and comprehensive services by
partnering with the community to advocate for innovative solutions to
ending family homelessness; and

WHEREAS, This esteemed man unites local faith based communities by
providing overnight hospitality and support to homeless families of the
Capital Region; and

WHEREAS, Under the luminous direction of Father Francis O'Connor,
this vital ministry has been transforming for the congregations and
families served; and

WHEREAS, Singular in distinction is Father Francis O'Connor, whose
service to his church and his people, and his involvement in his
community mirror a commitment of compelling dimension; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Father Francis O'Connor has
displayed throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention, it
is appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend that
individual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Father Francis O'Connor upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the Teresian Humanitarian Award on July 26, 2018; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Father Francis O'Connor.
