HONORING Timothy Bancroft upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2018 Code of Conduct
Award by the New York State Justice Center for the
Protection of People with Special Needs

WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of
certain individuals whom we wish to recognize for their valued
contributions and to publicly acknowledge their endeavors which have
enhanced the basic humanity among us all; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Timothy
Bancroft upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2018
Code of Conduct Award by the New York State Justice Center for the
Protection of People with Special Needs to be celebrated at its annual
award ceremony on Thursday, September 13, 2018, at the Normanside
Country Club, Delmar, New York; and

WHEREAS, This prestigious award provides an important opportunity
for people who receive services, their families, provider agency
personnel and the public to recognize and celebrate the exemplary work
of staff whose actions demonstrate a commitment to the core values
articulated in the Code of Conduct; and

WHEREAS, The Justice Center Code of Conduct must be signed by
employees who assist people with special needs; it provides them an
important framework to help people live self-directed meaningful lives
in their communities, free from abuse and neglect, and protected from
harm; and

WHEREAS, A resident of Albany, New York, Timothy Bancroft has
provided leadership, supervision, support, and most of all inspiration
to hundreds of youth receiving residential services at Northern Rivers
Family of Services for almost 20 years; and

WHEREAS, Timothy Bancroft began working on the overnight shift on a
part-time basis and his natural talent for working with youth
experiencing challenges quickly became evident; throughout his career,
he has been known for helping young people in crisis overcome
difficulties in positive and productive ways; and

WHEREAS, Timothy Bancroft's approach to work has always embodied the
principles of the Code of Conduct; he ensures that the youth in his care
know he believes in them and will advocate for them to learn and grow
into productive adults; and

WHEREAS, One of Timothy Bancroft's current staff members received
residential services from Northern Rivers 10 years ago and was under his
care; when applying for the job, he expressed a desire to work directly
with Timothy so he could learn from the best; and

WHEREAS, This exceptional man believes in speaking up for those who
cannot speak up on their own and is truly dedicated to ensure the youth
in his care are treated with respect and protected from harm; and


WHEREAS, Timothy Bancroft is an inspiration to many people, and his
dedication and commitment to people with special needs have proven him
to be the epitome of true leadership and guidance; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Timothy Bancroft upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the 2018 Code of Conduct Award by the New York State Justice Center
for the Protection of People with Special Needs; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Timothy Bancroft.
