CONGRATULATING Detective Edward Rogan Jr. upon the
occasion of his retirement after more than 31 years
of distinguished service to the Nassau County Police
Department

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished officers and citizens who would devote
themselves to public service, demonstrating great courage and diligence
in providing for the care and welfare of the citizens of their
communities and this great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their
exemplary contributions and service on behalf of others; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate
Detective Edward Rogan Jr. upon the occasion of his retirement after
more than 31 years of distinguished service to the Nassau County Police
Department, to be recognized at the Robbery Squad Retirement Celebration
on Thursday, March 28, 2019, at the Coral House, Baldwin, New York; and

WHEREAS, Edward Rogan Jr. began his illustrious career with the
Nassau County Police Department as a police officer on April 4, 1986;
and

WHEREAS, For his steadfast and unwavering commitment to the
department, Edward Rogan Jr. was promoted to Detective on June 27, 1997;
he officially retired from this esteemed position on December 21, 2017;
and

WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure with the Nassau County Police
Department, Detective Edward Rogan Jr. was truly an invaluable asset to
its 6th Precinct, Data Processing Bureau, 5th Squad and Robbery Squad;
and

WHEREAS, In addition, he was temporarily assigned to the Information
Systems Bureau and Homicide Squad; and

WHEREAS, A resident of Smithtown, New York, Detective Edward Rogan
Jr. has been the proud recipient of numerous awards and accolades,
including Detective of the Month, Meritorious and Command Recognition;
and

WHEREAS, For more than three decades, Detective Edward Rogan Jr.
rendered faithful, conscientious and valuable service to the Nassau
County Police Department, earning him the admiration, esteem and
affection of his colleagues; and

WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Arleen, and their
three children, Jenn, Kelly and Erin, who have all shown him love and
support and rejoice in his many achievements; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
dedicated public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the
preservation of order and the protection of others are worthy and due
full praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be
it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Detective Edward Rogan Jr. upon the occasion of his
retirement after more than 31 years of distinguished service to the
Nassau County Police Department; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Detective Edward Rogan Jr.
