HONORING Grand Worthy Patron Jesse Powell upon the
occasion of his designation for special recognition
by Eureka Grand Chapter, Prince Hall Order Eastern
Star, Inc., State of New York on April 13, 2019

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Grand Worthy Patron Jesse Powell upon the occasion of his designation
for special recognition by Eureka Grand Chapter, Prince Hall Order
Eastern Star, Inc., State of New York, to be celebrated at its
Testimonial Luncheon on Saturday, April 13, 2019, at Riccardo's by the
Bridge, Queens, New York; and

WHEREAS, A native New Yorker and a longtime resident of Harlem,
Jesse Powell followed in his father's footsteps and became a member of
the Prince Hall Masonic Family; and

WHEREAS, Jesse Powell was elected Worshipful Master of Prince Hall
Ashlar Lodge No. 94 in 2003, and reelected to the position the following
year; he joined Ashlar Chapter No. 71, Prince Hall Order Eastern Star in
2004, during which time he was elected Worthy Patron for seven
consecutive years; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, he is an Honorary Member of Meridian Chapter
No. 67 and Rebecca Chapter No. 23, Prince Hall Order Eastern Star,
State of New York; and

WHEREAS, After serving Eureka Grand Chapter, Prince Hall Order
Eastern Star, Inc., State of New York, in several capacities, Jesse
Powell was elected Grand Associate Patron in 2015; two years later he
was elected Grand Worthy Patron, the esteemed position he continues to
hold today; and

WHEREAS, Jesse Powell graduated from the University of Phoenix in
2010, with an associate's degree; he went on to earn a Bachelor of
Science degree in Information Technology in 2013; and

WHEREAS, A certified martial arts instructor and top level
competitor, Jesse Powell is the proud owner of Riverside Tai Chi, Inc.;
and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Jesse Powell has displayed
throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our

attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Grand Worthy Patron Jesse Powell upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by Eureka Grand Chapter, Prince Hall
Order Eastern Star, Inc., State of New York on April 13, 2019; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Grand Worthy Patron Jesse Powell.
