HONORING Penn Yan Middle School Library upon the
occasion of being named the 2019 School Library of
the Year by the Rochester Regional Library Council

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across the great
State of New York is reflective of certain exemplary library
institutions whose purpose is dedicated to serving the community and the
needs of its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Library programs provide the means for individuals to enter
a lifetime of learning while gaining cultural understanding and the
enhancement of global communication skills; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Penn Yan Middle School Library upon the occasion of being named the 2019
School Library of the Year by the Rochester Regional Library Council, to
be celebrated at its Annual Meeting on Thursday, June 6, 2019, at Casa
Larga, Fairport, New York; and

WHEREAS, The Rochester Regional Library Council (RRLC) is a
multi-type library network serving libraries and library systems in the
five-county Rochester region of Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Wayne and
Wyoming counties; and

WHEREAS, Each year, the RRLC recognizes one outstanding school
library which has provided exceptional service to the students in its
community; the Penn Yan Middle School Library program is committed to
preparing students to be informed, productive, and concerned citizens in
an information-driven society; and

WHEREAS, Penn Yan Middle School Library has served as an invaluable
resource to its students, teachers, administrators, and parents for many
years; and

WHEREAS, An integral part of its community, this remarkable
institution has striven to create an effective and enjoyable learning
environment, while instilling a love of reading in the youth it serves;
and

WHEREAS, The success of Penn Yan Middle School Library is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its staff, whose involvement is, and
always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled
enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all
endeavors on behalf of this institution and the community it serves; and

WHEREAS, Under the luminous guidance of Library Director, Pamela
Simmons, Penn Yan Middle School Library will continue to help its
students learn, think critically, and create and share knowledge for
many more years to come; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
institutions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be recognized and applauded by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Penn Yan Middle School Library upon the occasion of being named
the 2019 School Library of the Year by the Rochester Regional Library
Council; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Pamela Simmons, Library Director, Penn Yan Middle School
Library.
