COMMEMORATING the 100th Anniversary of Plumbers &
Pipefitters Local Union No. 773, Glens Falls, New
York

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to publicly
acknowledge those organizations whose endeavors serve the best interests
of the workforce in the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Plumbers & Pipefitters Local Union
No. 773, Glens Falls, New York, to be celebrated with a dinner on
Saturday, June 8, 2019, at the Saratoga Springs City Center; and

WHEREAS, Labor unions have played an essential role in ensuring the
prosperity, safety and liberty of workers in this great State and
Nation, and around the world; and

WHEREAS, The heart and soul of these organizations have always been
individuals who have put forth the effort to represent the interests of
workers and their families; and

WHEREAS, Local Union No. 773's plumbers, pipefitters, steamfitters,
refrigeration fitters and service technicians fabricate, install and
service residential, commercial and industrial piping systems which keep
homes safe and comfortable, and help power the regional economy; and

WHEREAS, Chartered April 29, 1919, by The United Association Vice
President Charles Grace, Plumbers & Pipefitters Local Union No. 773 held
its first meeting that evening at Fitzgerald's Hall in Glens Falls, New
York, with 28 original charter members; and

WHEREAS, In June of 1922, the Union meetings were moved to the Glens
Falls Trades Assembly Hall and then to the Glens Falls Labor Temple
beginning in September 1948; the Welfare fund was established in
November of 1954 and the Pension Fund was established in June of 1964;
and

WHEREAS, Having begun a New York State approved Apprenticeship
Program in 1970, Local Union No. 773 acquired property at Bluebird Road
in South Glens Falls in January of 1971; ten years later, a 1,500 square
foot addition to the Union Hall was built to house a new weld shop; and

WHEREAS, Local Union No. 773 remained on Bluebird Road until July
2013, when the organization moved into its current location, a brand
new, state-of-the-art training facility and office building on Luzerne
Road in Queensbury, home to approximately 500 union trained Plumbers,
Pipe Fitters, Steam Fitters, Refrigeration Fitters, and Service
Technicians; and

WHEREAS, Over its distinguished 100 year history, Local Union No.
773 has demonstrated continuous service to the residents and communities
which it serves; and


WHEREAS, The success of Local Union No. 773 is in direct correlation
to the efforts of its dedicated members, whose involvement is, and
always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled
enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all
endeavors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves; and

WHEREAS, Labor unions, through the integrity and dedication of their
leadership, have assumed an essential and integral role in ensuring the
welfare, safety and economic stability of the workers of this State and
Nation; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Plumbers & Pipefitters Local Union
No. 773, Glens Falls, New York; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Plumbers & Pipefitters Local Union No. 773, Glens Falls,
New York.
