CONGRATULATING four members of the Corning Painted
Post High School Girls Outdoor Track Team upon the
occasion of capturing the 2019 New Balance Outdoor
Nationals Track and Field Championship in the 1600m
Sprint Medley Relay on June 15, 2019

WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and

WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate four
members of the Corning Painted Post High School Girls Outdoor Track Team
upon the occasion of capturing the 2019 New Balance Outdoor Nationals
Track and Field Championship in the 1600m Sprint Medley Relay on
Saturday, June 15, 2019, at North Carolina A&T State University in
Greensboro, North Carolina; and

WHEREAS, To the praise and applause of their excited fans, Emma
Brown, Elora Ferrie, Jayla Skeete, and Lindsey Butler won the 1600m
Sprint Medley Relay with an outstanding time of 3:58.71; currently, they
are ranked number 1 in the Nation; and

WHEREAS, The athletic talent displayed by these young women is due
in great part to the efforts of Head Coach Joe Melanson and Assistant
Coaches Ray Lawson and Andrew Cartwright, skilled and inspirational
tutors, respected for their ability to develop potential into
excellence; and

WHEREAS, Each athlete's overall record is outstanding; they were
loyally and enthusiastically supported by their family, fans, friends
and the community at large; and

WHEREAS, Athletically and academically, Emma Brown, Elora Ferrie,
Jayla Skeete, and Lindsey Butler have proven themselves to be an
unbeatable combination of talents, reflecting favorably on their school;
and

WHEREAS, Head Coach Joe Melanson has done a superb job in guiding,
molding and inspiring these young women towards their goals; and

WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride
and accomplishment, and Head Coach Joe Melanson, Emma Brown, Elora
Ferrie, Jayla Skeete, and Lindsey Butler have clearly made a
contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of their
school; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate four members of the Corning Painted Post High School Girls
Outdoor Track Team upon the occasion of capturing the 2019 New Balance
Outdoor Nationals Track and Field Championship in the 1600m Sprint
Medley Relay; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Emma Brown, Elora Ferrie, Jayla Skeete, and Lindsey
Butler; Head Coach, Joe Melanson; and Assistant Coaches, Ray Lawson and
Andrew Cartwright.
