HONORING Wagner Vineyards Estate Winery upon the
occasion of its designation as recipient of the 2019
Business of the Year Award by the Seneca County
Chamber of Commerce on January 16, 2020

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those individuals and businesses that contribute
substantially to the economic vitality of their communities, thereby
enhancing economic well-being of the entire Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Wagner Vineyards Estate Winery upon the occasion of its designation as
recipient of the 2019 Business of the Year Award by the Seneca County
Chamber of Commerce, to be celebrated at its Annual Dinner and Awards
Ceremony on Thursday, January 16, 2020, in The Vine Theater at Del Lago
Resort and Casino in Waterloo, New York; and

WHEREAS, This outstanding business is receiving this prestigious
award for its stellar service to the Chamber, length of
involvement/operation, and outstanding business achievements; and

WHEREAS, In 1900, the Wagner Family started growing grapes on the
east side of Seneca Lake, and almost eight decades later, they
established Wagner Vineyards Estate Winery; in the years to follow, the
company expanded to include The Ginny Lee Cafe and the Wagner Valley
Brewing Company; and

WHEREAS, Since its inception, Wagner Vineyards Estate Winery has
always stayed true to its mission of providing its clientele with the
very best grapes, wine, beer and food and customer service in the Finger
Lakes Region; and

WHEREAS, Throughout its storied history, Wagner Vineyards Estate
Winery has accomplished many goals; in 2019, the winery celebrated its
40th Anniversary, was the recipient of the Winery of the Year and Best
White Wine Awards by the New York Wine Classic, and seven wines were
rated 90 or higher by major wine publications, with several boasting
Best Buy designations; and

WHEREAS, Devoted to its community, Wagner Vineyards Estate Winery
supports numerous worthy organizations including the Lodi Historic
Society, Lodi Fire Department, Seneca Lake Pure Waters Association,
Finger Lakes Land Trust, and the New York City Ballet; and

WHEREAS, The success of Wagner Vineyards Estate Winery is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its co-owners John Wagner and Laura Wagner
Lee, office manager Debra Wagner, co-winemakers Kevin Lee and Jessica
Johnson, and hardworking and dedicated staff of approximately 100, whose
involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive
commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of
excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the business and the community
it serves; and


WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledges this exceptional business, its contributions to the local
and state economies, and its vibrant role in improving the quality of
life in its community, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy
the sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be
it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Wagner Vineyards Estate Winery upon the occasion of its
designation as recipient of the 2019 Business of the Year Award by the
Seneca County Chamber of Commerce on January 16, 2020; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to John Wagner and Laura Wagner Lee, co-owners, Wagner
Vineyards Estate Winery.
