CONGRATULATING the Delaware Academy Girls Cross
Country Team upon the occasion of capturing the New
York State Public High School Athletic Association
Class D Championship

WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be
achieved only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit,
nurtured by dedicated coaching and strategic planning; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate the
Delaware Academy Girls Cross Country Team upon the occasion of capturing
the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Class D
Championship on Saturday, November 16, 2019 in Plattsburgh, New York;
and

WHEREAS, To the praise and applause of their excited fans, the
Bulldogs were able to surmount their opponents in the New York State
Championship Meet and achieve the utmost high school sporting
accomplishment in this great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, These are not uncharted waters for the Delaware Academy
Girls Cross Country Program, who also won the 1978, 1979, and 1981 New
York State Championship, further showing the dedication and drive that
the Delaware Academy Girls Cross Country Program has year in and year
out; and

WHEREAS, In a sport such as Cross Country, which demands strenuous
training, consistent mileage, and mental toughness, Head Coach Skip
Baxter and his expert coaching staff worked hard to hone the skills of
this championship team, teaching these outstanding athletes lessons
which will prove invaluable both on and off the course; and

WHEREAS, Coach Baxter and all the outstanding athletes on the
Delaware Academy Girls Cross Country Team have clearly utilized
dedication, determination and teamwork in providing a lasting
contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of their
school; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the members of the Delaware Academy Girls Cross Country
Team: Rachel Blocker, Sienna Dorr, Gretel Hilson-Schneider, Ellie Lees,
Lucia Marsiglio, Camille Mueller, Cella Schnabel, Anna Tessier, Lonnie
Weiss; Head Coach Skip Baxter; and Assistant Coaches Melissa Emilio and
Lenny Mintz upon the occasion of capturing the New York State Public
High School Athletic Association Class D Championship; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the members of the Delaware Academy Girls Cross Country
Team, Head Coach Skip Baxter, and Assistant Coaches Melissa Emilio and
Lenny Mintz.
