Senate Resolution No. 1189

COMMEMORATING the 100th Anniversary of the Cornell
Cooperative Extension of Wayne County on May 4, 2019

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend those
illustrious organizations of the State of New York whose focus and
intent have made a substantial impact on the quality of life in their
communities; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Cornell Cooperative Extension
of Wayne County to be recognized with a Gala Celebration on Saturday,
May 4, 2019, at Wayne County Fairgrounds-Floral Hall, Palmyra, New York;
and

WHEREAS, Since its inception, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Wayne
County (CCE-Wayne) has responded to the needs of local residents with
unbiased, research-based information, tools and education that people
have come to depend on and trust; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, its programs are developed in direct response
to community input, and are based on the most current information
available from Cornell and other Land Grant universities from across the
nation; and

WHEREAS, Remaining true to its mission, Cornell Cooperative
Extension of Wayne County enables people to improve their lives and
communities through partnerships which put experience and research
knowledge to work; its staff and trained volunteers deliver education
programs, conduct applied research, and encourage community
collaborations; and

WHEREAS, Its educators connect people with the information they need
on topics such as: commercial and consumer agriculture; nutrition and
health; youth and families; finances; energy efficiency; economic and
community development; and sustainable natural resources; and

WHEREAS, Cornell Cooperative Extension's ability to match university
resources with community needs helps the organization play a vital role
in the lives of individuals, families, businesses, and communities
throughout Wayne County; and

WHEREAS, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Wayne County actively
supports equal educational and employment opportunities and is committed
to the maintenance of affirmative action programs which ensure the
continuation of such equality or opportunity; and

WHEREAS, Over its distinguished 100-year history, the Cornell
Cooperative Extension of Wayne County has demonstrated continuous
service to the residents and communities which it serves; and

WHEREAS, The success of the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Wayne
County is in direct correlation to the efforts of its dedicated staff

and volunteers, whose involvement is, and always has been, characterized
by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an
uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the
organization and the community it serves; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the Cornell Cooperative
Extension of Wayne County; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when
individuals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Cornell Cooperative Extension
of Wayne County on May 4, 2019; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Wayne County.
