Senate Resolution No. 2235

COMMENDING Thomas Stanley Ostrowski posthumously
upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by Rensselaer County at its Honor a
Deceased Veteran Ceremony on April 13, 2020

WHEREAS, Members of the Armed Services from the State of New York,
who have served so valiantly and honorably in wars in which this
country's freedom was at stake, as well as in the preservation of peace
in peacetime, deserve a special salute; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Thomas
Stanley Ostrowski posthumously upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition by Rensselaer County at its Honor a Deceased Veteran
Ceremony to be celebrated on Monday, April 13, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Stanley Ostrowski was born on April 4, 1943, in
Brooklyn, New York, the son of Bruno and Frances (Ostarch) Ostrowski; he
attended St. Patrick's High School in Troy, New York, and went on to
further his education at Hudson Valley Community College, as well as the
College of St. Rose; and

WHEREAS, On October 11, 1966, Thomas Stanley Ostrowski enlisted in
the United States Navy and proudly served his country as a petty officer
second class as a draftsman; and

WHEREAS, For his outstanding service to this country, Thomas Stanley
Ostrowski was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, as well as the
Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon; and

WHEREAS, Upon the completion of his military service on July 1,
1970, Thomas Stanley Ostrowski was employed with General Electric as an
engineer draftsman for 32 years; and

WHEREAS, Active in his community, Thomas Stanley Ostrowksi was a
communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Troy, New York, and was involved
with bingo and ushering amongst other things; and

WHEREAS, In his free time, Thomas Stanley Ostrowski was an avid
fisherman, fly tyer, photographer, woodworker, and enjoyed building bird
houses; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Stanley Ostrowski died on October 1, 2018, at the
age of 75; he will eternally rest at Saint Jean's Cemetery, Troy, New
York; and

WHEREAS, Residents of this great State must never forget the courage
with which these men and women served their country, and must recognize
that no greater debt is owed than that owed to those who gave their
lives for their beloved Nation and to those who continue to be missing
in action; and

WHEREAS, Having exhibited his patriotism both at home and abroad,
Thomas Stanley Ostrowski demonstrated his love for his country and
merits forevermore, the highest respect of his State and Nation; and

WHEREAS, Our Nation's veterans deserve to be recognized, commended
and thanked by the people of the State of New York for their service and
for their dedication to their communities, their State and their Nation;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Thomas Stanley Ostrowski posthumously upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by Rensselaer County at its Honor a
Deceased Veteran Ceremony on April 13, 2020; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Thomas Stanley Ostrowski.
