COMMENDING the Chinese-American Planning Council
upon the occasion of celebrating its 55th
Anniversary

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body, in keeping with
its time-honored traditions, to recognize and pay tribute to those
organizations which foster ethnic pride and enhance the profile of
cultural diversity which strengthens the fabric of the communities of
New York State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend the Chinese-American Planning Council upon the occasion of
celebrating its 55th Anniversary; and

WHEREAS, Founded in 1965, the Chinese-American Planning Council is
the country's largest Asian American social services organization,
serving over 60,000 individuals and families striving to reach
education, family, community and career goals; and

WHEREAS, The Chinese-American Planning Council offers 50
high-quality programs at 35 locations in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens;
through these valuable services, the Council strives to empower Asian
American, immigrant, and low-income communities in New York City by
ensuring they have equitable access to the resources and opportunities
needed to survive and prosper in a variety of areas, including
education, family support, and community and economic development; and

WHEREAS, For the past 55 years, the Chinese-American Planning
Council has diligently worked to encourage all New Yorkers to become
agents of positive change in their own lives and in their communities
across New York City and New York State as a whole; and

WHEREAS, The success of the Chinese-American Planning Council is in
direct correlation to the efforts of its President and CEO Wayne Ho, and
his staff, whose involvement is, and always has been, characterized by
an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising
standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the institution and
the community it serves; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Chinese-American Planning Council upon the occasion of
celebrating its 55th Anniversary; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Wayne Ho, President and CEO, Chinese-American Planning
Council.
