Senate Resolution No. 2972

HONORING Jody L. Lomeo upon the occasion of being
named the 2019 Executive of the Year by Buffalo
Niagara Sales and Marketing Executives, Inc. on
March 2, 2020

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend the leaders of commerce and industry whose accomplishments
contribute to the economic health and prosperity of the communities of
the State of New York, and whose purposeful endeavors as involved
members of the community serve to enhance the quality of life therein;
and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Jody L.
Lomeo upon the occasion of being named the 2019 Executive of the Year by
Buffalo Niagara Sales and Marketing Executives, Inc. to be celebrated at
its Elite Sales and Marketing Awards Gala Dinner on Monday, March 2,
2020, at Salvatore's Italian Gardens in Depew, New York; and

WHEREAS, Jody L. Lomeo holds the title of President and CEO of
Kaleida Health, the largest healthcare provider and employer in Western
New York State; and

WHEREAS, A native Buffalonian, Jody L. Lomeo attended Fordham
University before graduating from the State University at Buffalo; and

WHEREAS, Prior to joining Kaleida Health, Jody L. Lomeo served on
the Board of Directors of ECMC Hospital in Buffalo for eight years,
before being recruited to the position of CEO in 2009; and

WHEREAS, In this capacity, Jody L. Lomeo prioritized the community's
interests by implementing several physician-led clinical improvements on
the ECMC campus such as new programs and facilities involving head and
neck surgery, breast surgery, and orthopedics, as well as a primary care
network of providers; and

WHEREAS, Jody L. Lomeo was also instrumental in expanding the ECMC
campus by building the Center of Excellence in Transplantation and Renal
Care, the Terrace View Long Term Care facility, and the Center of
Excellence in Behavioral Health; and

WHEREAS, In January of 2014, Jody L. Lomeo joined Kaleida Health as
interim CEO, and was named to his current position in April of that same
year; throughout his tenure, he has led the organization through a
remarkable transformation, improving quality of care, increasing market
share, cultivating physician and employee relations, recording budget
surpluses, increasing philanthropy and facilitating new construction;
and

WHEREAS, In addition to his leadership role at Kaleida, Jody L.
Lomeo is the President and CEO of the Great Lakes Health System of
Western New York, the parent organization responsible for integrating
the clinical activities of Kaleida Health, Erie County Medical Center

Corporation (ECMC), University at Buffalo and the Center for Hospice and
Palliative Care; and

WHEREAS, Jody L. Lomeo is a member of the Board of Directors at
Evans Bancorp, Inc. and the Greater New York Hospital Association, and
served on the Boards of Directors at St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute,
D'Youville College, and the Healthcare Association of New York State;
and

WHEREAS, For his steadfast and unremitting commitment to quality
healthcare in Western New York, Jody L. Lomeo has been the recipient of
numerous awards and accolades including the Health Care 50 Award by
Business First, the Achievement in Health Care Award by D'Youville
College, a Leadership Award by the National Federation for Just
Communities, the Gift of Life Award by UNYTS, the Openness to Change
Award by Leadership Buffalo, the Reflections Award by Trocaire College,
and the Commitment to Excellence Award by the Amherst Chamber of
Commerce; he was also named CEO of the Year by Business First; and

WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Mary, and their
three sons, John, Vinny, and Joe, all of whom feel privileged to be a
part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Jody L. Lomeo upon the occasion of being named the 2019 Executive
of the Year by the Buffalo Niagara Sales and Marketing Executives, Inc.
on March 2, 2020; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Jody L. Lomeo.
