COMMENDING former Senator Elizabeth O'Connor
Little for her illustrious service as a dedicated
political leader and strong advocate for the people
of the State of New York

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those individuals of distinguished purpose whose lives have been
committed to public service and the pursuit of excellence in the conduct
of the legislative process in this noble Empire State; Elizabeth
O'Connor Little is one such individual; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend former Senator Elizabeth O'Connor Little for her illustrious
service as a dedicated political leader and strong advocate for the
people of the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Senator Elizabeth "Betty" Little was elected in 2002 to
represent the Adirondack/North Country residents of the 45th Senate
District, where she served with honor and distinction from 2003 through
2020; and

WHEREAS, The longest serving female Republican Senator in the
history of New York State, Senator Elizabeth O'Connor Little has had
many legislative accomplishments, including the passage and voter
approval of five State Constitutional Amendments which she sponsored to
enhance the quality of life for her constituents; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, Senator Elizabeth O'Connor Little Chaired both
the Senate Local Government Committee, the Tourism Committee and the
Housing Committee for numerous years; and

WHEREAS, Elizabeth O'Connor Little's many years of public service
have been defined by a practical, straightforward and hands-on style;
she began as a member and later Chair of the Town of Queensbury
Recreation Commission; and

WHEREAS, In 1986, Elizabeth O'Connor Little was elected to serve as
an At-Large Supervisor to the Warren County Board of Supervisors for the
Town of Queensbury, where she served on numerous boards and committees
and as County Budget Officer in 1990 and 1991; and

WHEREAS, In 1995, Elizabeth O'Connor Little won a special election
to serve in the New York State Assembly, and would serve as an
Assemblywoman until winning election to the Senate; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to our Nation's
veterans, Senator Elizabeth O'Connor Little proudly sponsored Patriot
Plans I and II to expand the services and benefits available to
servicemen and women and their families; and

WHEREAS, Elizabeth O'Connor Little resides in Queensberry, New York,
and is the proud mother of six children and the loving grandmother of 18
grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Every citizen in New York State has most certainly
benefited, in one way or another, from the deep dedication, intelligence
and commitment former Senator Elizabeth O'Connor Little brought to her
work as a legislator, loyal friend, and trusted advisor; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to reflect upon
those outstanding individuals who have made everlasting contributions on
behalf of their fellow man and have truly left their mark on this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
recognize and applaud the many accomplishments of former Senator
Elizabeth O'Connor Little, and to wish her well in all her future
endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to former New York State Senator Elizabeth O'Connor Little.
