COMMENDING Alexandra Schreck upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of a Liberty Medal, the
highest honor bestowed upon an individual by the New
York State Senate

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend the caring concern and heroic acts of individuals who take
prompt and appropriate action in emergency situations, nobly risking
their own lives to preserve the life of another; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Alexandra Schreck of Canandaigua, New York, upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of a Liberty Medal, the highest honor
bestowed upon an individual by the New York State Senate; and

WHEREAS, The New York State Senate Liberty Medal was established by
Resolution and is awarded to individuals who have merited special
commendation for exceptional, heroic, or humanitarian acts on behalf of
their fellow New Yorkers; and

WHEREAS, Responding without hesitation, Alexandra Schreck acted
bravely in providing life-saving cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to
a 63-year-old sports official who went into cardiac arrest while
refereeing a Midlakes football game in October of 2021; and

WHEREAS, The action taken by Alexandra Schreck to deliver immediate
chest compressions and first aid largely increased the chance of
survival and recovery for the game official; her astute actions were
regarded by an on-site doctor to be largely pivotal to the favorable
outcome of the situation; and

WHEREAS, An athletic trainer who has worked through University of
Rochester Thompson Health since April of 2020, Alexandra Schreck
received her Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from Alfred
University; she is a New York State Licensed Certified Athletic Trainer,
National Athletic Trainers' Association Certified Athletic Trainer, and
Silver Sneakers Instructor, as well as being Certified in both First Aid
and CPR; and

WHEREAS, Alexandra Schreck, in her spontaneous and heroic act, has
so aptly demonstrated her character and compassion for the welfare of
others, personifying, by virtue of her action, the collective concern of
ordinary citizens across the community of New York State who voluntarily
respond without thought of danger or reward when others need help; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Alexandra Schreck upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of a Liberty Medal, the highest honor bestowed upon an
individual by the New York State Senate; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Alexandra Schreck.
