CONGRATULATING the South Orangetown Little League
Softball Team upon the occasion of capturing the
2021 Little League Softball East Region Championship
WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in youth sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate the
South Orangetown Little League Softball Team of Orangeburg, New York,
upon the occasion of capturing the 2021 Little League Softball East
Region Championship; and
WHEREAS, To the praise and applause of their excited fans, the South
Orangetown Little League Softball Team defeated the Robbinsville Little
League Softball Team from New Jersey in a thrilling 2-0 victory on
Tuesday, July 27, 2021, in Bristol, Connecticut; and
WHEREAS, Despite a two-hour weather delay, the South Orangetown
Little League Softball Team remained focused and their lead was never
challenged; and
WHEREAS, With this monumental win, the South Orangetown Little
League Softball Team clinched a spot in their first ever Little League
Softball World Series representing New York in Greenville, North
Carolina, from August 11-18, 2021; and
WHEREAS, In their opening game on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, the
New York Little League Softball Team defeated the Arizona Team by a
score of 4-0; they finished the World Series with a record of 1-3; and
WHEREAS, Family, friends, and the community at large loyally and
enthusiastically supported the girls throughout their journey as they
ended their season with an impressive overall record; and
WHEREAS, In a sport such as softball, which demands athletic
prowess, speed and agility, Head Coach Bob D'Orio and Manager Joe
Chiappa worked hard to hone the skills of this championship team,
teaching these outstanding athletes lessons which will prove invaluable
both on and off the field; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach Bob D'Orio and all of the outstanding athletes
on the South Orangetown Little League Softball Team utilized dedication,
determination and teamwork in providing a lasting contribution to the
spirit of excellence which is a tradition of their community and New
York State as a whole; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the South Orangetown Little League Softball Team upon the
occasion of capturing the 2021 Little League Softball East Region
Championship; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the members of the South Orangetown Little League
Softball Team, Head Coach Bob D'Orio and Manager Joe Chiappa.
