COMMENDING the Friends of White Plains Public
Schools upon the occasion of celebrating its 25th
Anniversary on April 24, 2022
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend the Friends of White Plains Public Schools upon the occasion of
celebrating its 25th Anniversary at a Gala on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at
Westchester Hills Golf Club in White Plains, New York; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion will also pay tribute to long-time
member of the Friends of White Plains Public Schools Board of Directors,
Michele Schoenfeld, for her four decades of service as clerk of the
White Plains Board of Education and as a life-long volunteer leader in
its schools, the City of White Plains and the White Plains Hospital; and
WHEREAS, Proceeds from the 25th Anniversary Gala will support
innovative academic and cultural enrichment programs in the current
school year and beyond, special programs made even more important due to
the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic; and
WHEREAS, The Friends of White Plains Public Schools is a non-profit
organization run entirely by volunteers who have raised and donated
significant funds to support over 190 academic and cultural enrichment
programs that have benefited thousands of students in all White Plains
Public Schools; and
WHEREAS, The success of the White Plains Public Schools is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its co-Presidents Lydia Kris and Larry
Geiger, its Board of Directors and volunteers whose involvement is, and
always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled
enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all
endeavors on behalf of the institution and the community it serves; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Friends of White Plains Public Schools upon the occasion of
celebrating its 25th Anniversary on April 24, 2022; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Michele Schoenfeld and Lydia Kris and Larry Geiger,
co-Presidents, Friends of White Plains Public Schools.
