HONORING Sean McHale upon the occasion of his
designation as the 2022 Carthage Citizen of the Year
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavors
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Within every community there exists certain individuals who
have played an important role in helping the people and families of
their society, Sean McHale is one such individual; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Sean McHale
upon the occasion of his designation as the 2022 Carthage Citizen of the
Year; and
WHEREAS, Sean McHale has been named Citizen of the Year by the
Carthage Area Chamber of Commerce and Elks Lodge No. 1762 for his
service to the greater Carthage Community and to Northern New York
throughout his lifetime; and
WHEREAS, Sean McHale exemplifies the terms citizenship, achievement,
leadership, dedication and motivation which characterize a Citizen of
the Year; and
WHEREAS, This outstanding man has truly made a difference in the
lives of countless students throughout his illustrious career as a
Social Studies teacher in the Carthage Central School District, a role
which has enabled him to not only teach, but also to mentor local youth;
and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to his
community, Sean McHale has given tirelessly of his time and energies to
several organizations, including the Elks Lodge, where he served as
Exalted Ruler, and the Carthage Fire Department, where he rose to the
rank of Fire Chief and helped protect many lives in his community and
beyond; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, several years ago Sean McHale founded the
"Exceptional Games," bringing together special education students from
more than a dozen schools to have fun and compete alongside their peers;
and
WHEREAS, Whether it be through his career in education or
volunteerism in the community, Sean McHale has had a lasting, positive
impact on the lives of countless people, making him incredibly deserving
of the title of Citizen of the Year; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Sean McHale upon the occasion of his designation as the 2022
Carthage Citizen of the Year; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Sean McHale.
