CONGRATULATING The College of Saint Rose Women's
Soccer Team upon the occasion of capturing the NCAA
East Regional Championship on November 21, 2021
WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in college sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and
WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be
achieved only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit,
nurtured by dedicated coaching and strategic planning; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate The
College of Saint Rose Women's Soccer Team upon the occasion of capturing
the 2022 NCAA East Regional Championship; and
WHEREAS, To the praise and applause of their excited fans, the
number 8 ranked Golden Knights defeated Southern Connecticut State in a
thrilling 1-0 victory to capture its 9th Championship on Sunday,
November 14, 2021, at the Plumeri Sports Complex, St. Rose College,
Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, With this monumental win, the Golden Knights secured their
16th trip to the NCAA Division II Final Four; and
WHEREAS, The Golden Knights entered the NCAA Tournament third in the
country defensively with a team 0.348 goals-against-average, and were
ranked 25th in scoring offense behind 2.53 goals per game; and
WHEREAS, The top-seed in the East Region, the Golden Knights earned
a first-round bye, and went on to defeat their next four opponents
before losing in double overtime in the final game against Grand Valley
State on Saturday, December 11, 2021; and
WHEREAS, Proudly donning the school's colors of white, black and
gold, family, friends, and the community at large loyally and
enthusiastically supported the Golden Knights throughout their journey
as they ended their season with an impressive 18-2-4 overall record; and
WHEREAS, Throughout its regular season, the Golden Knights outscored
its 18 opponents 48-7 and surrendered only three, second-half goals all
year; the team is first in the NE 10 in scoring offense with a 2.53 goal
scoring average, and third in the country with a NE 10 best 0.35 team
goals-against-average; and
WHEREAS, In post season play, The Saint Rose Women's Soccer Team's
record is 28-12-5 all-time in NCAA Tournament contests; they have
advanced to 11 regional championship games, made eight national
semifinal appearances (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2019, and
2021), and captured the 2011 National Championship; and
WHEREAS, In a sport such as soccer, which demands athletic prowess,
speed and agility, and mental toughness, Head Coach Laurie
Darling-Gutheil and Assistant Coaches Jason Gutheil, Renae Ransdell,
Kailey Egbert, Morgan Burchhardt, Meeghan Arno, Carlos Menjivar, and
Adam Favro worked hard to hone the skills of this outstanding team,
teaching these incredible athletes lessons which will prove invaluable
both on and off the field; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach Laurie Darling-Gutheil and all of the
outstanding athletes on The Saint Rose College Women's Soccer Team have
clearly utilized dedication, determination and teamwork in providing a
lasting contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of
their school; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the members of The College of Saint Rose Women's Soccer
Team: Madelyn McCarthy, Taylor Gray, Marika Laurendeau, Luisa Gaudl,
Ciera Lundy, Jennifer Bartlett, Theresa Durle, Emilie Cisneros, Paula
Toledo, Sidney Brucato, Sanna Rein, Tatiana Leggiero, Anna Maria
Dzyadyk, Mia Klammer, Olivia Boucher, Sabrina Mazza, Jada Brown, Lexi
Grassia, Janina Mueller, Isabella O'Clair, Alexandra Getfield, Alexus
Boorse, Kaelyn Britt, Caylee Boorse, Haley Tracy, Katlyn Krupski, Loryn
DonVito, Kelly Coster, Ryleigh Hopeck, Lauren Amerena, Isabel
Jayasinghe, Carolyn Brussel, Samantha Diaz, Tabitha Mwaura, Peyton
DeRouen, Zahra Ouannass, and Kelsie Schwager; Head Coach, Laurie
Darling-Gutheil; Assistant Coaches, Jason Gutheil, Renae Ransdell,
Kailey Egbert, Morgan Burchhardt, Meeghan Arno, Carlos Menjivar, and
Adam Favro on another outstanding season; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the members of The College of Saint Rose Golden Knights
Women's Soccer Team, Head Coach Laurie Darling-Gutheil; Assistant
Coaches, Jason Gutheil, Renae Ransdell, Kailey Egbert, Morgan
Burchhardt, Meeghan Arno, Carlos Menjivar, and Adam Favro; Mangers,
Elizabeth Gallagher and Kylie Flores; Athletic Director, Lori Anctil;
and President, Marcia White.
