HONORING Avi Posnick upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Rabs Award by the
Jewish Community Relations Council-Long Island

WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their
valued contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Avi Posnick upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
Rabs Award by the Jewish Community Relations Council-Long Island to be
celebrated at its Annual Holocaust Remembrance Day Commemoration to be
held via Zoom on Thursday, May 5, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Holocaust Remembrance Day, known in Hebrew as Yom HaShoah,
is a day set aside for remembering the victims of the Holocaust and for
reminding New Yorkers, all Americans, and people around the world of
what can happen to civilized people when bigotry, hatred and
indifference reign; and

WHEREAS, Avi Posnick is the Managing Director for StandWithUs in the
Northeast, an education organization that supports people around the
world who want to educate their campuses and communities about Israel;
and

WHEREAS, Founded in 2001, StandWithUs empowers and energizes
students and communities with leadership training and educational
programs on hundreds of college campuses, high schools, and middle
schools; this vital organization informs through social media, print and
digital materials, films, weekly newsletters and missions to Israel; and

WHEREAS, Avi Posnick is truly proud to be a part of this
international and non-partisan Israel education organization that
inspires and educates people of all ages and backgrounds, challenges
misinformation and fights antisemitism; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefits of others which Avi Posnick has displayed
throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proud to recognize Avi Posnick for
the courage and fortitude he has displayed throughout the years of his
life; with his tremendous pride for his heritage, and his ceaseless work
against hate and prejudice, he has benefited the world in immeasurable
ways; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honoring Avi Posnick upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the Rabs Award by the Jewish Community Relations Council-Long Island;
and be it further


RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Avi Posnick.
