CONGRATULATING the Albany Academy Boys Basketball
Team upon the occasion of capturing the New York
State Federation Tournament of Champions on March
26, 2022
WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate the
Albany Academy Boys Basketball Team upon the occasion of capturing the
2022 New York State Federation Tournament of Champions; and
WHEREAS, To the praise and applause of their excited fans, the
Cadets beat Murry Bergtraum High School in a thrilling 79-74 victory to
win their fifth Class A crown on Sunday, March 26, 2022, at Long Island
Lutheran High School in Brookville, New York; and
WHEREAS, This monumental win gave 15-year veteran Coach Brian
Fruscio a winning overall record of 226-79; and
WHEREAS, Proudly donning the school's colors of black and red,
family, friends, and the community at large loyally and enthusiastically
supported the Cadets throughout their journey as they ended their first
season in the NYSAIS with an impressive 14-8 overall record; and
WHEREAS, In a sport such as basketball, which demands athletic
prowess, speed and agility, Head Coach Brian Fruscio and Assistant
Coaches Lewis McCauley, Joseph Motley, James Driggs, Justin Legault, and
Bobby Shields worked hard to hone the skills of this championship team,
teaching these outstanding athletes lessons which will prove invaluable
both on and off the court; and
WHEREAS, Coach Brian Fruscio and all of the outstanding athletes on
the Albany Academy Boys Basketball Team have clearly utilized
dedication, determination and teamwork in providing a lasting
contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of their
school; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the members of the Albany Academy Boys Basketball Team:
Drew Ronovech, Jarin Beauford, Shamiere Green, Gianni DiCerbo, Mallachy
Ings, Jacob Camoin, Keyshuan Tillery Jr., Bobby Chandler, Georden
Timmons, Jack Fruscio, Finn Conway, Liam Hayes, John Mahoney, Brooks
Brennan, Nolan Cummings, Cyrus Matia, Arthur Foster, Andrew Brady, and
Gunnar Schaap; Head Coach Brian Fruscio; and Assistant Coaches Lewis
McCauley, Joseph Motley, James Driggs, Justin Legault, and Bobby
Shields; and Managers Payton Dott, Jesse Graber, and Ronald Diggs on
their outstanding season and overall team record; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the members of the Albany Academy Boys Basketball Team,
Head Coach Brian Fruscio; Assistant Coaches Lewis McCauley, Joseph
Motley, James Driggs, Justin Legault, and Bobby Shields; and Managers
Payton Dott, Jesse Graber, and Ronald Diggs.
