CONGRATULATING The Honorable Leonard L. Finz,
former New York State Supreme Court Justice, upon
the occasion of his induction into the United States
Army Officer Candidate School Hall of Fame on July
23, 2022

WHEREAS, Members of the Armed Services from the State of New York,
who have served so faithfully and courageously in wars in which our
Nation's freedom was at stake, as well as in the preservation of peace
during peacetime, deserve a special salute from this Legislative Body;
and

WHEREAS, The dedication and sacrifices of our military personnel
ensure our continued role as a Nation which embodies the ideals of
democracy, and is a defender of liberty for peoples throughout the
world; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate The
Honorable Leonard L. Finz, former New York State Supreme Court Justice,
upon the occasion of his induction into the United States Army Officer
Candidate School Hall of Fame on Saturday, July 23, 2022, to be held at
the Museum of American Armor, located in Old Bethpage, New York; and

WHEREAS, The military ceremony will be in keeping with the highest
standards of the United States Army and will be attended by several
high-ranking military officers; and

WHEREAS, 97-year-old Leonard L. Finz is a decorated World War II
veteran, 1st Lieutenant, Field Artillery, Pacific War Zone, Philippines;
and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is moved with great respect and
reverent esteem on behalf of all of the citizens of the Empire State, to
renew its tribute to the men and women of New York State who so
courageously served their State and Nation during World War II in
defense of freedom and democracy; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate The Honorable Leonard L. Finz, former New York State
Supreme Court Justice, upon the occasion of his induction into the
United States Army Officer Candidate School Hall of Fame; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Honorable Leonard L. Finz.
