MOURNING the untimely death of Liony Polonia
Santos, beloved son and brother, and distinguished
athlete

WHEREAS, It is with feelings of deepest regret that this Legislative
Body records the passing of Liony Polonia Santos, an extraordinary young
man of indomitable faith and dedication whose short, yet purposeful life
will long serve as a standard to which others might aspire; and

WHEREAS, A young man of boundless energy and talent, Liony Polonia
Santos of Peekskill, New York, died on July 4, 2021, at the age of 17;
and

WHEREAS, Liony Polonia Santos was a hard worker, good student, and
was an achiever; he had large dreams and profound goals in life,
including that of becoming a Division 1 soccer player in college; and

WHEREAS, As a Junior on the Peekskill High School soccer team, he
was one of the leading scorers during the 2020 season; and

WHEREAS, Liony Polonia Santos' two younger brothers both chose a
life of soccer because of their admiration for their older brother and
to carry on his legacy; and

WHEREAS, Like most his age, Liony Polonia Santos wanted to enjoy the
staples of youth, such as camping with friends and learning to drive;
and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Liony Polonia Santos leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the untimely death of Liony Polonia Santos, and to express its
deepest condolences to his family; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Liony Polonia Santos.
