MOURNING the tragic and untimely death of Andre S.
Mackniel, devoted father, brother and uncle, and
distinguished member of his community

WHEREAS, There are certain outstanding members of our community who,
through their selfless commitment and dedication, have served to better
the quality of life in our community and have had a measurable positive
impact on the lives of its residents; Andre S. Mackniel was one such
individual; and

WHEREAS, It is with profound sorrow and deep regret that this
Legislative Body records the passing of Andre S. Mackniel, noting the
significance of his purposeful life and accomplishments; and

WHEREAS, Andre S. Mackniel of Auburn, New York, died on Saturday,
May 14, 2022, in the devastating act of violence which took place at the
Tops Friendly Market on historic Jefferson Avenue; he was 53 years old;
and

WHEREAS, Born in Buffalo, New York, on March 8, 1969, the oldest son
of Lynda Mackniel and James L. Elliott, Andre S. Mackniel attended South
Park High School where he played basketball and excelled in his
academics; and

WHEREAS, Andre S. Mackniel was engaged to Tracey Maciuliwicz, with
whom he lived and shared his life along with their son, Andre Jr.; and

WHEREAS, A loving, God fearing and family man, Andre S. Mackniel
worked as a cook and was a stay-at-home dad; and

WHEREAS, While he was passionate about many things, including
basketball, playing the guitar, writing poems and listening to music,
above all his greatest passion was spending time with his family; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his fiance, Andre S. Mackniel is survived by
his five children who were his pride and joy, Shawanda Rogers (nee
Elliott), Andrea Beckman (nee Elliott), LeAdrea Elliott, Deja Brown (nee
Elliott) and Andre Mackniel Jr.; four brothers, Yvonne James Elliott,
Marcus Elliott, Malik Elliott and Jimmy Elliott; four sisters,
Andre'Anna Unique Porter, Rose White (nee Elliott), Darlissa Elliott,
and Marshett Elliott; and three grandchildren; as well as a host of
aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; he is predeceased
by his parents; a brother, James Elliott III; his grandmothers, Ella
Manuel (nee Jackson) and Georgia Wright; and grandfathers, James L.
Elliott Sr. and Robert P. Copes; and

WHEREAS, Andre S. Mackniel's infinite selflessness and benevolence
will shine on through his family's vivid and happy memories; his insight
and strength will forever serve as a beacon of love, light and hope to
the countless lives he touched; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Andre S. Mackniel leaves behind a legacy which will long

endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
who were privileged to have known and loved such an amazing man; he will
be deeply missed and truly merits the grateful tribute of this
Legislative Body; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the tragic and untimely death of Andre S. Mackniel, and to express
its deepest condolences to his family; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Andre S. Mackniel.
