MOURNING the death of Linda A. Mahon distinguished
citizen and devoted member of her community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and this
great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Linda Anne Mahon of Bedford, New York, died on Tuesday,
February 2, 2021, at the age of 65; and
WHEREAS, Born on February 21, 1955, Linda A. Mahon grew up in
Baldwin, Long Island, and was the daughter of George and Eleanor
(Reuben) Mahon; and
WHEREAS, In 1977, Linda A. Mahon graduated from the College of
William & Mary; she later completed the studies necessary to be
designated a Certified Trust and Financial Advisor by the American
Bankers Association; and
WHEREAS, Linda A. Mahon worked in the Tarrytown, New York, office of
Midland Trust Company, part of a large Midwestern bank, where she
specialized in servicing special-needs trusts; and
WHEREAS, Linda A. Mahon distinguished herself in her profession and
by her sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of
her community; and
WHEREAS, Linda A. Mahon's commitment to excellence, and her spirit
of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including
charitable and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Linda A. Mahon, who resided in Bedford, New York, since
1997, was a long-time board member and past treasurer of the Boys and
Girls Club of Northern Westchester County; a long-time board member and
past president of the Mount Kisco Child Care Center, where she was the
honoree at its 2016 annual gala; a member of the advisory board of the
Bedford Hills Free Library; and a member of the scholars committee of
the Friends of John Jay Homestead; and
WHEREAS, Linda A. Mahon is survived by her loving companion of 35
years, Robert H. Saunders; and her brother, Justice Roy Mahon of the New
York State Supreme Court on Long Island; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Linda A. Mahon leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all she
served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Linda A. Mahon, and to express its deepest
condolences to her family; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Linda A. Mahon.
