CONGRATULATING Lynn Capuano upon the occasion of
being inducted into the 28th Annual May W. Newburger
Women's Roll of Honor by the Town of North
Hempstead, in conjunction with the observance of
Women's History Month

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those women of achievement within this great Empire State
who have made strong contributions to their communities and who inspire
others through their model citizenship; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Lynn Capuano upon the occasion of being inducted into the
28th Annual May W. Newburger Women's Roll of Honor by the Town of North
Hempstead, in conjunction with the observance of Women's History Month;
and

WHEREAS, Since 1994, the Town of North Hempstead has honored women
who have made a contribution to their community, or have accomplished a
significant achievement through public or private efforts; Lynn Capuano
is one such woman; and

WHEREAS, Lynn Capuano is an environmental educator who is part of a
team who write an earth matter column for Island Now newspaper; it is
said everything she touches turns to green; she worked on Greening Port
Washington with Grassroots Environmental Education and is now with
Residents Forward; and

WHEREAS, She volunteers her time to improve the ecoliteracy in our
schools and integrates environmental education into standard curricula;
she is also active in Sousa's Green Committee and works on both compost
and planting projects with schools; and

WHEREAS, Lynn Capuano is a woman of great distinction, integrity,
strength and resilience; she has been awards many grants and fellowships
to help to improve our living world and educate children of all ages;
and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the State of New York; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Lynn Capuano upon the occasion of being inducted into the
28th Annual May W. Newburger Women's Roll of Honor by the Town of North
Hempstead, in conjunction with the observance of Women's History Month;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Lynn Capuano.
