COMMEMORATING the 90th Anniversary of Madison
Jewish Center of Brooklyn, New York, to be
celebrated on May 9, 2021
WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in New York State is
greatly enriched by its religious institutions and the faithful and
generous service of those who devote themselves to endeavors of family,
faith, and community; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend institutions of such magnanimous conduct and bearing which
demonstrate a deep and continuing concern for others, and in so doing,
inspire others to do the same; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and fully in accord with its
long-standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to
commemorate the 90th Anniversary of the Madison Jewish Center of
Brooklyn, New York, to be celebrated with a myriad of activities,
including a social gathering, displays, photos, and shared memories on
Sunday, May 9, 2021; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1931, Madison Jewish Center (MJC) is located
in the heart of Brooklyn in the Madison neighborhood; for 90 years, it
has proudly served the Madison, Marine Park, Sheepshead Bay and Midwood
communities; and
WHEREAS, An Egalitarian Conservative congregation affiliated with
The United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, this esteemed organization
offers a variety of programs for its congregants with a goal of creating
a warm, comfortable environment for all; and
WHEREAS, Religious institutions, and the many spiritual, social and
educational benefits they confer, play a vital role in the development
of the moral fabric of a responsible citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Madison Jewish Center is a comprehensive communal
organization dedicated to promoting and enhancing Jewish life through
religious, cultural, social and civic advancement in Brooklyn, New York;
and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, Madison Jewish Center stands on the threshold
of tomorrow, prepared to meet the challenges of the coming decades while
retaining that spiritual resolve which it has embodied for nine decades;
and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that those
organizations which enhance the well-being and vitality of their
community and have shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence
certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 90th Anniversary of Madison Jewish Center of Brooklyn,
New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Madison Jewish Center.
