HONORING Michael H. Carpenter upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the Education
Champion Award by Clinton Community College on May
13, 2021
WHEREAS, The unity of our State and Nation is built upon the
compassion of individuals such as Michael H. Carpenter who uphold the
values of community life and who, through their great actions, epitomize
the best of humanity; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Michael H.
Carpenter upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
Education Champion Award by Clinton Community College, to be recognized
at its Inaugural Education Champion Celebration on Thursday, May 13,
2021, the evening before its commencement ceremonies, in the newly
renovated Learning Commons Atrium of the Moore Building, Plattsburgh,
New York; and
WHEREAS, Located on the beautiful shores of Lake Champlain, Clinton
Community College is a member of the State University of New York (SUNY)
system and provides educational opportunities that enrich minds,
strengthen the economy and improve the quality of life in the region;
and
WHEREAS, Michael H. Carpenter is the President of MHAB and
President/CEO of The Northeast Group, a 40-year-old family business
community of caretakers, pathfinders, and changemakers who foster hope
and open doors for those in recovery; and
WHEREAS, In addition to helping those in recovery from substance use
disorders, this vital organization helps anyone it can, including people
in recovery from mental, emotional or behavioral disorders, domestic
violence, homelessness and poverty; and
WHEREAS, A true community leader and an extraordinary business owner
who has been in recovery himself for more than 30 years, Michael H.
Carpenter knew he had a responsibility to help others; when the
opportunity to build a Life Skills Campus arose, he was inspired by his
own life experience to create MHAB; and
WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of Michael H. Carpenter, MHAB
assists those in recovery with the transition from treatment or halfway
house back to "normal" life, closing the gap between leaving treatment
and getting into recovery, and steadfastly fighting the social stigma
surrounding recovery; and
WHEREAS, The success of MHAB is in direct correlation to the efforts
of Michael H. Carpenter, as well as his dedicated staff and partner
organizations, whose involvement is, and always has been, characterized
by an impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an
uncompromising standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the
organization and the community it serves; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Michael H. Carpenter has
displayed throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Michael H. Carpenter, that future generations may know and appreciate
his admirable character, his many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which he is held by his peers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Michael H. Carpenter upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the Education Champion Award by Clinton Community College,
and to wish him continued success in all his future endeavors; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Michael H. Carpenter.
