CONGRATULATING Joseph Conway upon the occasion of
his retirement after more than 30 years of
distinguished service to the State of New York

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
reward those distinguished citizens of this great Empire State who have
devoted themselves to faithfully serving the best interests of their
community and the needs of its residents; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Joseph Conway upon the occasion of his retirement after
more than 30 years of distinguished service to the State of New York;
and

WHEREAS, The best public servants are those who take their roles and
responsibilities seriously and look to enhance the quality of
government; Joseph Conway is one such individual; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Conway has dedicated his professional life to
improving the way state government functions, working diligently to
improve the lives of all New Yorkers; and

WHEREAS, Whether it was in his role as a spokesman for former
Governor George Pataki or in his capacities in the state Senate's press
office, finance department, and as longtime Director of Conference
Services, Joseph Conway has led with intelligence, distinction and
personal grace; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Conway is a familiar presence in the state Capitol,
particularly during the last week of March, where he can be spotted
tracking down any and all relevant information about the state budget,
keeping his staff and Senators and their constituents informed; and

WHEREAS, Known for his significant knowledge of policy and planning,
Joseph Conway is even more well-versed in art, architecture, cinema,
history and music; and

WHEREAS, One conversation with Joseph Conway could include the
intricacies of the 2017 middle class income tax cut, the subtle nuances
of Marcel Duchamp's, "Bicycle Wheel" and the appropriate amount of turbo
shots to make an iced coffee from Dunkin Donuts more palatable; and

WHEREAS, This inspiring man has dedicated his professional career to
advancing the causes he believes in without seeking personal
recognition; and

WHEREAS, At home, he is an art collector and avid gardener, spending
considerable time each year planting and maintaining gorgeous
landscaping arrangements and beautifying the space in which he lives;
and

WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Jane, and his
family, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice
in his achievements; and

WHEREAS, For more than 30 years, Joseph Conway has rendered
faithful, conscientious, and valuable service to the State of New York,
earning the admiration, esteem and affection of his colleagues; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Joseph Conway upon the occasion of his retirement after
more than 30 years of distinguished service to the State of New York,
and to wish him continued success in all his future endeavors; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Joseph Conway.
