HONORING Dr. Christina Liepke upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the 2021 Amelia
Earhart Woman of Achievement Award by the Zonta Club
of Oswego on June 15, 2021
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
individuals who devoted themselves to the welfare of the community and
its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Dr. Christina Liepke upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the 2021 Amelia Earhart Woman of Achievement Award by the Zonta Club
of Oswego, to be celebrated virtually on Tuesday, June 15, 2021; and
WHEREAS, Since 1985, the Zonta Club of Oswego has presented this
prestigious award to a woman who has dedicated herself to her community
and who serves as a role model for young women; Dr. Christina Liepke is
one such individual; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Christina Liepke has been the Medical Director of the
Oswego County Health Department since 2014; in this capacity, she
provides guidance on all medical aspects of the department's operations
and serves as a liaison between the health department and the medical
community; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, she works closely with the Hospice program
where she is part of the interdisciplinary team which provides
supportive services to patients and their families at the end of life
and throughout the grieving process; and
WHEREAS, During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Christina Liepke's work
at the Oswego County Health Department rose to a new level; she was
responsible for keeping local healthcare providers up to date on
COVID-19 trends and served as the County's point person for local school
district officials, responding to their many questions and concerns; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Christina Liepke has also been a fierce advocate for
the department's frontline healthcare workers, promoting self-care to
prevent mental and physical exhaustion during these challenging times;
and
WHEREAS, In addition to her esteemed role with the Oswego County
Health Department, Dr. Christina Liepke has practiced at Port City
Family Medicine since 2005; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to her
community, Dr. Christina Liepke served as a member of the Oswego County
Board of Health and the Oswego Community Christian School Board; she
also volunteered with Reach Out, ASCEND, SCHope, and at the Hilltop
Pediatric Clinic; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Christina Liepke has been the proud recipient of
numerous awards and accolades, including the Resident Teacher Award from
the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine; and
WHEREAS, A truly humble and generous woman of indomitable faith and
dedication, Dr. Christina Liepke grew up in the Syracuse, New York area;
after receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from Elmira College in 1996,
she went on to earn a medical degree from the SUNY Health Science Center
at Syracuse; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Dr. Christina Liepke has
displayed throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Dr. Matthew
Liepke, who is a Colonel in the Army National Guard, and their two
children, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of her life and
rejoice in her many achievements; and
WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Dr. Christina Liepke, that future generations may know and appreciate
her admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. Christina Liepke upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of the 2019 Amelia Earhart Woman of Achievement Award by the
Zonta Club of Oswego; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dr. Christina Liepke.
