CELEBRATING the life and accomplishments of Arleen
Brusko, compassionate nurse, distinguished citizen
and devoted member of her community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Arleen Brusko of Saratoga Springs, New York, died on
Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at the age of 73; and

WHEREAS, Born on October 11, 1947, to the late Elizabeth (Velan) and
Frank Krasiker in Bronx, New York, Arleen Brusko graduated from Lakeland
High School in Shrub Oak, New York; she became a registered nurse after
attending Vassar Brothers Hospital School of Nursing in Poughkeepsie,
New York; and

WHEREAS, Arleen Brusko distinguished herself in her profession and
by her sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of
her community; and

WHEREAS, Arleen Brusko truly loved helping and caring for people and
began her career in nursing at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Tarrytown,
New York; during this time, she also worked at Sky View Haven Nursing
Home in Croton-on-Hudson, New York; and

WHEREAS, Although Arleen Brusko liked being a nurse, she cared for
her family even more, and decided to devote herself to making a loving
home for them; later, she thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her
cherished grandchildren, whether it was vacationing in Maine, making
Halloween costumes, helping them with their homework, watching movies or
building Lego projects; and

WHEREAS, Arleen Brusko is survived by her loving husband of 52
years, John Brusko; one daughter, Lisa (Chris) Disbrow; one sister,
Alyce (Jimmy) Furfaro; two brothers-in-law, Paul (Maurine) Brusko and
Gene Brusko; one niece, Sarah Brusko; two nephews, Andrew (Boryana)
Brusko and Andrew (Susan) Furfaro; and two grandchildren, Justin (Kelly)
Gardner and Kayla Disbrow, as well as many friends; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Arleen Brusko leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all she
served and befriended; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
celebrate the life and accomplishments of Arleen Brusko, compassionate
nurse, distinguished citizen and devoted member of her community; and be
it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Arleen Brusko.
