CONGRATULATING Carol A. Pilla upon the occasion of
her retirement after 56 years of dedicated service
to the Clarkstown Central School District

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of those outstanding
educational leaders, whose dedication and achievements have been
instrumental in developing character and academic excellence in the
young people of New York State; and

WHEREAS, New York State's commitment to education is unparalleled;
its history and stature are secured by the superlative caliber of its
educational professionals and the students they inspire; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Carol
A. Pilla upon the occasion of her retirement after 56 years of
dedicated service to the Clarkstown Central School District; and

WHEREAS, In 1965, Carol A. Pilla began her illustrious career in
education; she was a teacher for 27 years at Bardonia Elementary School
within the Clarkstown Central School District; in 1992, she became the
Principal at Clarkstown's Laurel Plains Elementary School, the esteemed
position from which she will retire in June of 2021, after 25 years of
distinguished service; and

WHEREAS, Carol A. Pilla served the Laurel Plains community for
almost three decades; during that time, she was a fervent advocate for
all students ensuring maximum opportunities for students with special
needs, always believing all children can learn; and

WHEREAS, As Principal, Carol A. Pilla encouraged everyone to be "The
Best You Can Be", a phrase later adopted as the school motto; and

WHEREAS, Under her strong leadership, Laurel Plains Elementary
School became a nationally ranked building, earning accolades and
recognition; and

WHEREAS, Carol A. Pilla also served as President of the Clarkstown
Administrators Association for 25 years, sharing her knowledge and
expertise with her colleagues; and

WHEREAS, This distinguished educator has continually demonstrated an
impressive dedication, an unparalleled devotion and an unremitting
enthusiasm for the quality of the educational programs and opportunities
offered at Laurel Plains Elementary School for the benefit of its
faculty and students, as well as for the entire community; and

WHEREAS, The result of many individual efforts, the excellence and
the success of Laurel Plains Elementary School is due in large to the
efforts of Carol A. Pilla; and

WHEREAS, The impact Carol A. Pilla has had on this community
including parents, staff, and students simply cannot be measured; her
legacy will continue for generations to come; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Carol A. Pilla upon the occasion of her retirement after 56
years of dedicated service to the Clarkstown Central School District,
and to wish her well in all her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Carol A. Pilla.
