MOURNING the death of Louis R. Lupi Sr., World War
II veteran, distinguished citizen and devoted member
of his community
WHEREAS, It is with profound sorrow that this Legislative Body,
representing the people of the State of New York, is moved this day to
pay tribute to an eminent gentleman of indomitable faith and dedication
whose public service and countless accomplishments will forever stand as
a paradigm and inspiration for others; and
WHEREAS, Louis R. Lupi Sr., of Schenectady, New York, died on
Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at the age of 94; and
WHEREAS, Born to the late Jenny (Mariorano) and Benjamin Lupi, Louis
R. Lupi Sr. meritoriously served his country as a sharpshooter in the
United States Army Air Corps during World War II; this brave soldier
fought during the Normandy Invasion and learned several languages while
abroad; and
WHEREAS, Upon his honorary discharge, Louis R. Lupi Sr. moved to
Rotterdam, New York, and began a long career with General Electric; and
WHEREAS, An active member of the Rotterdam AMVETS Post 35 who often
wore his Army uniform, Louis R. Lupi Sr. was officially recognized,
commended and thanked for his many selfless acts to the veteran
community when his name was inscribed on the Veteran's monument at
Rotterdam Town Hall, and for his selection as the 2019 Grand Marshall of
the Rotterdam Veterans Parade; and
WHEREAS, With the belief that there is no greater feeling of
self-satisfaction than to serve your country and know you served it
well, Louis R. Lupi Sr. truly left his mark on everyone and everything
he touched during his long productive life; and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by his sister, Theresa, Louis R. Lupi Sr. is
survived by one sister, Eleanor (Reo) Lupi; three daughters, Teresa
Gallo-Toth, Lisa Lupi-Mediavilla, and Linda Caldwell; one son, Louis B.
Lupi, six grandchildren, and one great grand-child; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Louis R. Lupi Sr. leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Louis R. Lupi Sr., World War II veteran,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of his community; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Louis R. Lupi Sr.
