MOURNING the death of Jason M. Buley, Whitesboro
Police Chief, family man and devoted member of his
community

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to convey its
grateful appreciation and heartfelt regret in recognition of the loss of
a courageous officer who dedicated his purposeful life and career in
faithful service to his family, Oneida County and the Whitesboro Police
Department; and

WHEREAS, Jason M. Buley of Holland Patent, New York, died on
Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at the age of 46; and

WHEREAS, Jason M. Buley was born to Dorothy (Famolaro) and John J.
Buley on November 9, 1974, in New Hartford, New York; ever since he was
a young boy, he dreamt of following in his father's footsteps and
becoming a patrolman; and

WHEREAS, In 1998, Jason M. Buley fulfilled this goal by becoming a
member of the Whitesboro Police Department; throughout his more than
two-decade tenure, he served the citizens of Whitesboro professionally,
faithfully and loyally, working his way up from Patrolman to Sergeant
and most recently, Chief of the Department; and

WHEREAS, Chief Jason M. Buley will always be remembered as a
knowledgeable, tough yet fair police officer who truly relished his role
as a public servant; with his father as his role model, he diligently
strived to make his community a better place to live, work and play; and

WHEREAS, When he was not protecting the citizens of Whitesboro,
Jason M. Buley loved spending time with his cherished wife of over 20
years, the former Lisa Rehm, and their two precious children, Samantha
and Nick; the family shared a unique bond and thoroughly enjoyed each
other's company; and

WHEREAS, A man of many interests, Jason M. Buley was a backyard
mechanic who could often be found working on his family's vehicles or
driving his Pontiac GTO or his lifted Jeep Wrangler during the summer
months; he was also an avid Philadelphia Flyers fan and played pickup
hockey as a goalkeeper in several leagues; and

WHEREAS, Predeceased by his son, Nicholas J. Buley; his father, John
J. Buley; grandparents Sam and Lucy Famolaro and Ernie and Jeannine
Foppes; and one aunt, Josephine Grogan, Jason M. Buley is survived by
his wife, Lisa; one daughter, Samantha; his mother, Dorothy; one
brother, Daniel (Jaime); his mother-in-law, Julie Rehm; father-in-law,
William Rehm; brother-in-law, B.J. Rehm; two sisters-in-law, Kerri Rehm
and Jennifer (Chris) Eckels; aunts and uncles, Russ Grogan, Mike and
Binnie Fenton and Sal and Marcia Famolaro; cousins, Mike and Caitlin
Fenton and Tammie Fenton; one niece, Eden; and three nephews, Mitchell,
Brendan and David, as well as numerous other family members, friends and
a legion of fellow police officers who will long cherish his memory; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his meritorious life, Jason M. Buley touched
many through his kindness and commitment to service, and, as we recall
the loss of this great man, we memorialize his remarkable life and the
enormous impact he had on everyone with whom he came in contact; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to convey its
grateful appreciation and heartfelt regret in recognition of a
courageous police officer who dedicated his purposeful life and career
in faithful service to his family and community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
pay tribute to the life and valiant service of Chief Jason M. Buley; and
be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Chief Jason M. Buley.
