HONORING Faith Vavra upon the occasion of her
designation as the 2020-21 Woman of Achievement by
the Junior League of Binghamton, Inc.

WHEREAS, The unity of our State and Nation is built upon the
compassion of individuals, such as Faith Vavra who uphold the values of
community life and who, through their great actions, epitomize the best
of humanity; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Faith Vavra
upon the occasion of her designation as the 2020-21 Woman of Achievement
by the Junior League of Binghamton, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, For two decades, Faith Vavra has given tirelessly of her
time and energies to the Junior League, not only in Binghamton, New
York, but in Virginia Beach, Atlanta, Oklahoma City, and Colorado
Springs; in this capacity, she has brought tenacity, intelligence, and
passion to every conversation; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, Faith Vavra understands the inter-connectivity
of the community and economy, often leveraging the strength of strong
organizational partnerships and executive relationships to generate
measurable economic development locally; and

WHEREAS, In 2019, under the able leadership of Faith Vavra, several
pivotal milestones were met in the construction of the Junior League of
Binghamton's community impact project, the Kopernik Science Park, which
was completed in October of the following year; and

WHEREAS, Additionally, Faith Vavra was instrumental in bringing
stakeholders to the table to launch a planning team for Broome County's
first STEM Trail; and

WHEREAS, A true asset to the Junior League of Binghamton, this
extraordinary woman also received its Lifetime Achievement Award and the
Watrous Silver Bowl Award in June of 2020; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to her
community, Faith Vavra holds numerous positions in public and non-profit
offices across the county; she recently served in the role of Deputy
District Director with the 22nd NYS Congressional District, and
currently serves as a FEMA Public Information Officer, as well as a
business mentor to local high school students; and

WHEREAS, Previously, she held professional positions as the
Secretary to the Deputy County Executive of Broome County, Director of
Programs for the Victim Assistance Center of Akron, Ohio, and as an
adjunct instructor of criminal justice at SUNY Broome; and

WHEREAS, Faith Vavra holds a Masters of Criminal Justice from the
University of South Carolina, and a Masters of Public Administration
from Troy University; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Faith Vavra has displayed
throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Faith Vavra, that future generations may know and appreciate her
admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Faith Vavra upon the occasion of her designation as the 2020-21
Woman of Achievement by the Junior League of Binghamton, Inc., and to
wish her continued success in all her future endeavors; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Faith Vavra.
