Senate Resolution No. 1632

COMMENDING Morris Sorbello for more than two
decades of distinguished service to Oswego County

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge outstanding individuals within our midst who
have made significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and

WHEREAS, A great community is only as great as those persons and
organizations that provide exemplary service, whether through good
citizenship or through public service and leadership in their community;
and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend former
Legislator Morris Sorbello upon the completion of his service as a
member of the Oswego County Legislature; and

WHEREAS, Morris Sorbello represented District 23, which includes
portions of the Towns of Granby and Hannibal, for 22 of the last 26
years; he first served on the Oswego County Legislature in 1996; and

WHEREAS, From 2001 to 2003, Morris Sorbello led his colleagues as
Chairman of the Oswego County Legislature; and

WHEREAS, Returning to the Legislature in 2008, Morris Sorbello
worked on the Department of Economic Development and Planning (EDP); and
both Health, and Human Services and Public Safety Committees, serving as
Chairman of the EDP and Health Committees for a number of years; and

WHEREAS, During his legislative career, Morris Sorbello worked
diligently on countless initiatives to improve Oswego County and focused
on several infrastructure improvement projects, including the Oswego
County Airport, as well as numerous economic development projects; and

WHEREAS, At the end of 2021, Morris Sorbello officially completed
his tenure on the Oswego County Legislature, closing a chapter of public
service characterized by hard work, passion for his community and a
desire to improve Oswego County for its residents; and

WHEREAS, Through his dedication and tireless effort, Morris Sorbello
helped make Oswego County a place where families want to live, tourists
want to visit, and businesses want to locate; and

WHEREAS, As a leader in Oswego County, Morris Sorbello set an
example of service for others to follow; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend former Legislator Morris Sorbello for more than two decades of

distinguished service to Oswego County, and to wish him well in all his
future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Morris Sorbello.
