CONGRATULATING Delaware County Undersheriff
Timothy M. Buckley upon the occasion of his
retirement after 26 years of distinguished service
to the field of law enforcement
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished officers who would devote themselves to public
service, demonstrating great courage and diligence in providing for the
care and welfare of the citizens of their communities and this great
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their
exemplary contributions and service on behalf of others; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate
Delaware County Undersheriff Timothy M. Buckley upon the occasion of his
retirement after 26 years of distinguished service to the field of law
enforcement; and
WHEREAS, Timothy M. Buckley began his illustrious law enforcement
career in 1996 working for various Police Departments in Delaware and
Chenango Counties, including the Hancock, Deposit, Afton, Bainbridge,
Greene and Walton Police Departments; and
WHEREAS, In 1998, he moved on to the Chenango County Sheriff's
Office where he served as Deputy Sheriff as well as a School Resource
Officer within the Afton, Bainbridge, Oxford and South Otselic School
Districts; and
WHEREAS, During this time, Timothy M. Buckley became a part-time
Deputy with the Delaware County Sheriff's Office before transferring to
full time in 2000; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure, Timothy M. Buckley climbed the ranks
from Deputy Sheriff to Investigator and Lieutenant before being
appointed Undersheriff in 2018, the esteemed position from which he will
officially retire; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, this extraordinary man served as Investigator
and Senior Investigator with the Delaware County Department of Social
Services Special Investigations Unit; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to his
profession, Timothy M. Buckley graduated from Monroe Community College
Criminal Investigations School before completing the Police
Supervisors/Supervision Course and Civil School Phase one and two; and
WHEREAS, In addition, he is a former Law Enforcement Accreditation
Manager, Henry F. Williams Homicide Seminar graduate and former
Assistant Director of the Delaware County Law Enforcement Academy; and
WHEREAS, Assigned as the County's first full time Narcotics
Investigator, Timothy M. Buckley earned several certifications related
to narcotics investigations and clandestine lab investigations, as well
as certifications for Emergency Management by the US Federal Emergency
Management Agency; and
WHEREAS, Timothy M. Buckley has been the proud recipient of numerous
awards and accolades, including the Dr. Gerard Burday Professional
Excellence Award from the A.R.C. of Delaware County, and several
Certificates of Merit, Agency Awards and Recognitions for Impeccable
Levels of Service and Perfect Attendance; and
WHEREAS, Undersheriff Timothy M. Buckley, with his proficient
leadership and love for Delaware County, truly epitomized the roll of a
community police officer; he tirelessly and selflessly served the
residents of his beloved community with compassion, integrity, and
fairness, attributes which will forever serve as an example for his
fellow officers; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout has been his beloved wife, Sandi, who
feels privileged to be a part of his life and rejoices in his many
achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
dedicated public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the
preservation of order and the protection of others are worthy and due
full praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Delaware County Undersheriff Timothy M. Buckley upon the occasion
of his retirement, and to wish him well in all his future endeavors; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Delaware County Undersheriff Timothy M. Buckley.
