MOURNING the death of Helen Coughlan,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of her

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and this
great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Helen Coughlan of Pelham, New York, passed away on
Saturday, May 7, 2022, at the age of 93; and

WHEREAS, She was born in London, England, and came to America in
1953; in 1960, Helen married Robert Coughlan who passed away in 1977;

WHEREAS, She raised her family in New Rochelle, New York, and worked
at McCrory's in the New Rochelle Mall for 22 years; and

WHEREAS, Helen Coughlan enjoyed spending summer days at Hudson Park
and Davenport Park; her last 20 years were spent with her family in
Pelham, New York; and

WHEREAS, Helen Coughlan distinguished herself in her profession and
by her sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of
her community; and

WHEREAS, Helen Coughlan's commitment to excellence, and her spirit
of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including
charitable and civic endeavors; and

WHEREAS, Helen Coughlan is survived by her two children, Martin and
Denise; daughter-in-law, Dongyen; son-in-law, Richard; and three
grandchildren, Kimberly, Joseph, and Nicholas; as well as her
grandson-in-law, Daniel; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Helen Coughlan leaves behind a legacy which will long endure
the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all she
served and befriended; she will be deeply missed and truly merits the
grateful tribute of this Legislative Body; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Helen Coughlan, and to express its deepest
condolences to her family; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Helen Coughlan.
