Senate Resolution No. 2757

HONORING Mindy Germain upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by Residents
Forward on June 3, 2022

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Mindy Germain upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by Residents Forward to be celebrated at its Gala '22 on
Friday, June 3, 2022, at the North Hempstead Beach Park Pavilion; and

WHEREAS, Residents Forward is a non-profit organization which
strives to inspire and unify the residents of Port Washington, New York,
to protect and advance the vibrancy, resiliency, sustainability and
beauty of its peninsula; and

WHEREAS, Mindy Germain is being recognized for her steadfast and
unremitting commitment to Residents Forward, and her community as a
whole; and

WHEREAS, Through this vital organization's mantra "No Dream Too Big,
No Job Too Small," Mindy Germain has tirelessly worked to make Port
Washington a better place for its residents to live, work and play; and

WHEREAS, For 13 years, Mindy Germain served as the Executive
Director of Resident Forward and is currently, the Vice President of its
Board of Directors; throughout her tenure, she has always strived to
continue the organization's steadfast tradition of environmental
advocacy; and

WHEREAS, As the former Executive Director of Residents Forward,
Mindy Germain was instrumental in the implementation of various
initiatives which have greatly benefitted the community including Clean
Green Main Street, a cigarette butt recycling program, the Green Team
Environmental Leader educational program, Long Island's first Youth
Climate Summit, and the Trash Talkin' and Every Drop Counts educational
exhibits at Bay Walk; and

WHEREAS, Moreover, residents were encouraged to use the NICE
commuter shuttle, kicked off Let's Walk PW, launched the Port Washington
Mural Project, and revamped the gardens in front of the Post Office,
Train Station and Blumenfeld Park; and

WHEREAS, In addition to her valuable work with Residents Forward,
Mindy Germain founded Eco-Leap LLC, a consulting firm that helps
communities and companies identify steps which create leaps in climate
resiliency; and

WHEREAS, Mindy Germain has also served as a Port Washington Water
District (PWWD) Commissioner since 2013 and has led the Western Nassau
County Aquifer Committee since 2015; recently, she launched the PWWD's
"Do It for Port" education and action series and started a newspaper
column, "Germain on Water"; and

WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Victor, and
their three children, Sophie, Gabriel, and Harry, all of whom feel
privileged to be a part of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Mindy Germain has displayed
throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Mindy Germain upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by Residents Forward on June 3, 2022; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Mindy Germain.
