HONORING Melissa Vissicchio upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition by Residents
Forward on June 3, 2022
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Melissa Vissicchio upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by Residents Forward to be celebrated at its Gala '22 on
Friday, June 3, 2022, at the North Hempstead Beach Park Pavilion; and
WHEREAS, Residents Forward is a non-profit organization which
strives to inspire and unify the residents of Port Washington, New York,
to protect and advance the vibrancy, resiliency, sustainability and
beauty of its peninsula; and
WHEREAS, Melissa Vissicchio is being recognized for her steadfast
and unremitting commitment to Residents Forward, and her community as a
whole; and
WHEREAS, Through this vital organization's mantra "No Dream Too Big,
No Job Too Small," Melissa Vissicchio has tirelessly worked to make Port
Washington a better place for its residents to live, work and play; and
WHEREAS, After moving to Port Washington in 2008, Melissa Vissicchio
quickly became an active part of her community, diligently working to
create a strong, beautiful, environmentally conscious community to raise
her family; and
WHEREAS, When her children were younger, Melissa Vissicchio took
active executive roles within the Home School Associations at Daly and
Weber, rising to the role of co-President; as a board member of the
Property Owners' Association of Harbor Acres, she runs social events,
organizes the annual beach clean-up, and personally maintains the beach
garden; and
WHEREAS, In 2018, Melissa Vissicchio joined Residents Forward, and
since then, she has strived to keep the waterfront and Main Street of
Port Washington a place for residents and visitors alike to enjoy; as
Chair of the Beautification Committee, she can often be found working in
the Residents Forward gardens; and
WHEREAS, Melissa Vissicchio has been instrumental in launching
Residents Forward's annual Backyard Garden Tour and has been a guiding
force in the Port Washington Mural Project, helping to develop five
murals that capture unique aspects of the vibrancy, diversity, and pulse
of Port Washington; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Melissa Vissicchio leads a collaboration between
Residents Forward and local photographer Roy Schneider to hang copies of
his photographs in the windows of empty storefronts on Main Street; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her work with Residents Forward, Melissa
Vissicchio is an auditor with Deloitte & Touche LLP and a controller in
the private equity industry; and
WHEREAS, When Melissa Vissicchio is not helping someone, she likes
to walk her dog, Leo; cook and spend time with her friends and her
beloved family; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Jack, and their
two daughters, Brianna and Emily, all of whom feel privileged to be a
part of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Melissa Vissicchio has
displayed throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Melissa Vissicchio upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by Residents Forward on June 3, 2022; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Melissa Vissicchio.
