Senate Resolution No. 530

MOURNING the death of Danielle Marie Coletta,
well-liked and respected teacher, distinguished
citizen and devoted member of her community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and this
great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Danielle Marie Coletta of Peekskill, New York, died on
Monday, February 22, 2021, at the age of 48; and
WHEREAS, A sixth-grade teacher at Mildred E. Strang Middle School in
Yorktown, New York, Danielle Marie Coletta distinguished herself in her
profession and by her sincere dedication and substantial contribution to
the welfare of her community; and
WHEREAS, Her career began at Columbus Elementary School in
Hawthorne, teaching second grade, followed by many years at Brookside
Elementary School in Yorktown, as a third-grade teacher; and
WHEREAS, Danielle Marie Coletta attended George Washington
Elementary School in Mohegan Lake, Copper Beech Middle School, and
Walter Panas High School in Cortlandt Manor; and
WHEREAS, She graduated from Pace University in Pleasantville, New
York, with a bachelor's degree in Education, and Western Connecticut
University where she received a master's degree in Education; and
WHEREAS, Danielle Marie Coletta's commitment to excellence, and her
spirit of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise,
including charitable and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, She was a lover of animals and she spent many years of
service volunteering in such organizations as HEART, PACT and The
Guiding Eyes for the Blinds; she also loved horseback riding and, while
in college at Pace University, was a member of the Equestrian team; and
WHEREAS, Danielle Marie Coletta is survived by her parents, Susann
and Joseph Coletta; her brother, John (Jill) and their children, Aidan,
Ethan, and Jack Coletta; and her three sisters, Kristin (Charles) and
their children, Janna, Kailee, and Madison Di Vico; Lianne (Edward)
Navedo; and Jaclyn (Dustin) and their children, Cameron and Carter
Lucas; as well as many cousins and friends; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Danielle Marie Coletta leaves behind a legacy which will
long endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory
to all she taught, served and befriended; she will be remembered for her
devotion to the teaching profession and will be truly missed by many;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Danielle Marie Coletta, and to express its deepest
condolences to her family; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Danielle Marie Coletta.
