MOURNING the death of Jesse B. Powell, prominent
Mason, distinguished citizen and devoted member of
his community

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Jesse B. Powell died on Sunday, March 21, 2021, at the age
of 52; and

WHEREAS, Born on June 30, 1968, to Jesse Benny Powell and Maxine
Bor, Jesse grew up in New York City where he attended Music and Arts
High School, and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the
University of Phoenix; and

WHEREAS, Jesse B. Powell began his Masonic Journey with Prince Hall
Ashlar Lodge No. 94 being initiated on October 7, 1997, and at the young
age of 29, he was Raised on April 24, 1998; and

WHEREAS, From 2003-2004, Jesse B. Powell served as Worshipful Master
for his Lodge, and later, held several other leadership positions
including Recording Secretary in 2006 and 2018, and Treasurer in 2019;
and

WHEREAS, Jesse B. Powell was also a member of Ashlar Chapter No. 71
Order Eastern Stars, where he served as Worthy Patron from 2000-2010; in
2019, he was re-elected to this esteemed title, serving until his
untimely death; and

WHEREAS, From 2017-2019, Jesse B. Powell was the Grand Worthy Patron
of Eureka Grand Chapter for the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, In addition, Jesse B. Powell was a member of Eureka Chapter
No. 17 HRAM's, a Sublime Prince Royal and Select 32nd Degree in King
David Consistory No. 3, and a Noble in Medina Temple No. 19 AEAONMS
Desert of New York, New York, and Canada; and

WHEREAS, Jesse B. Powell truly lived in service to his family, the
community, and foremost his Masonic Craft; his vast knowledge of his
ritualistic work was greatly admired by all of his peers; and

WHEREAS, Jesse B. Powell is survived by his wife, the former Diane
Nardell; one sister, Lisa Marie Powell; one aunt, Joylin Martin, and
numerous other family members, friends and fellow Masons; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Jesse B. Powell leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
he served and befriended; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Jesse B. Powell, prominent Mason, distinguished
citizen and devoted member of his community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Jesse B. Powell.
